On Soi Khao Talo the (old) Secret Bar has gone dark.

Noticed another bar has bit the dust. One Bar (previously Balloon Bar, then Boom Boom Bar) on Khao Talo is now a steak place.

I just cannot see how the vast majority of the bars over here stay open. The only bars I've been into lately that look as if they're maybe doing ok are The Booze Lounge and The Bird Cage.

Yet still some get suckered into buying a bar over here for their girl to run because she has told him it'll make money ?? I'll bet the seller was dancing all the way to the bank.

A better bet would be the owner of the One Bar either walked away from the lease, or didn't renew.

I think most of the bars are suffering b/c of the increase in police check points. I rarely head to the darkside now, whereas in the past I would choose to go to the darkside over the brightside most nights that I'm out. Main reason is I don't want to endure the hassle of the check points and the risk of getting shook down over a bogus breathalyzer reading.

So that I do not need Mobil data, I have been trying to save this map to google maps offline, but I don’t see anyway to do this when I click on your link. Do you have any suggestions?

I had a quick look and don't see any way to do that in Google Maps. You can download the darkside bars map into an XML file so your best bet might be to find another mapping app that lets you import waypoints. A quick search found this Android app, GPS Waypoints. Haven't tried it, but it might get you started in the right direction on a hunt for a similar app.

The alley is under repair, the signpost with the butterfly image along Soi Siam Country Club has disappeared and the bar has gone dark.

"Under repair"?  Has something changed in the past 4 months?  For the past 10 years it's been the DS's version of Soi Chaiyapoon.

On internet I found I found this sign of the (defunct?) Butterfly Bar:

I also found a map of The Black Pearl Bars 1 and 2.

The Black Pearl Bar 1 on the same side of Soi Siam Country Club as Butterfly Bar has completely vanished.

I can’t even remember where exactly it was.

The Black Pearl Bar 2 on Soi Chaipornwithi with the iconic swimming pool has later become White Oyster Lounge and ultimately The Black Pearl Bar.

Black Pearl 1 is now a second hand shop.

Street View also has a shot of the location from Oct 2012 when it was Titties and Beer.

Here's a couple pics of the Butterfly Bar I took for the map in Feb, 2014.

Last night I visited Koy Bar (previously K&K Bar and Pat’s Bar) on Soi Khao Talo.

The bar area has been completely refurbished with a pool table in the middle, stools along the walls and a small bar counter in the left rear corner.

The owner appeared to be a Thai man smoking cigarettes behind the bar counter.

I barfined a slim, rather tall 22-year-old girl from Nakhon Sawan.

She spoke little English, was very shy and wearing stilettos and a dress until her calves.

I understood it was her third day “working bar” and she had no children, had only fucked a Thai boyfriend and I was her first farang.

Although her face was not too special, she was very sweet.

She did have a very nice shape with a natural B-cup, a nicely trimmed unshaven beaver and (to my personal taste) too many tattoos.

In-house fun 1,300 baht (300 + 1,000), LDs (Sangsom cola) 100 baht, beers 70 baht.

The rooms are still as basic as in the previous incarnations of the bar.

Koy is the owner there, she used to be "the big fish in a small pond" at Lek's Bar just down the road.

Same old story, she snared an old farang and he bought her the bar and he paid for the refurb etc.

The Thai man behind the counter ? Was he young, mid 20's ? If so it could be Koy's extremely gay "brother" that said farang is supposed to be supporting too, if not then I have no idea who it could be.

The girl you barfined could almost be Koy the owner but she only had a tattoo above her tit when l knew her, the unshaved pussy is another clue and the farang has also paid for her new tits but as things are quiet she may well be still turning tricks and she is a great actress ! ( 3 holer too if she's in the mood ! ).

The "old" Secrets bar next to Bird Cage and Full Moon has changed owners, now called Pinkies (or something like that).

Exact same furniture/layout from the previous owner (Pai).  I went in last night around 10 pm, average to below average line up of girls but the owner said many of her other girls were already BF'd for the night, asked me to come back soon to see her other girls.  She's an ex KIK, Pancha BG and said she saved her money to open a bar.

Thanks for the heads up on the name change. Noticed too that Nok & Nok Bar on Khao Talo is now Nok Happy Bar.
