There is indeed also a Kodak/Fuji shop on Soi Khao Talo opposite the old market, not far from the Booze Lounge.

Eight ball is closed permanently. Was for sale for months before they pulled the plug, owners lost interest since they had a kid.

Not so long ago when Honey Pot was at the current 8 Ball location. and was up for sale I asked how much? I was told 300,000 baht.  I'm curious what 8 Ball is asking now after a few new chairs and a year or two.

No idea what they were asking for the business, but obviously too much. Asset stripping now, trying to sell one of the  pool tables for 120k bht! The recipe for the beef stew however, would be priceless.

I’ve heard Eight Ball was Belgian owned.

It was indeed, Belgian beef stew. 295 bht for a big plateful with home made chips and salad. Should have been right at the top of Evils food thread, under 300 bht and good.

The only girl present, chubby Mae, was busy with the only other customer.

To my surprise Fon, the petite cashier/caretaker/whatever, offered herself.

Her “brother”, who also is always there, didn’t seem to appreciate.

Correction: the name of the petite “boss” as the girls call her is Nat, not Fon.

Sorry, slip of the pen.

That being said, until about half a year ago there has been a slim 22-year-old Fon.

Yesterday I had a bad experience at Empire Bar on Soi Khao Noi.

Behind the bar counter was a ladyboy cashier and on one of the bar stools a chubby girl in a red stretch dress.

After the girl brought my beer she went into hiding behind the bar counter.

When I asked her if she were the owner or the mamasan she answered “service” (one word).

I left without finishing my beer, let alone leaving a tip.

Customer service at its best.

As to Black Pearl it’s always interesting to hear the girls’ funny stories about their “boss” Nat.

Nat’s sponsor has come from Australia for eight days and her Thai boyfriend had to go back to their village in Korat.

The Australian sponsor likes to “test drive” the girls starting with Tak.

Once he’s gone, Nat takes revenge and gets intimate with regular customers, to the displeasure of her Thai boyfriend.
