new bar opening on khao noi, called true blue sports bar, its where the old tropical bar was, all windows blacked out with stickons?graphics, and nearly ready by looks,

Thanks for the "heads up" . Being new in the area, I didnt know where the old Tropical bar was ..but know where the current one is, and that was a good enough hint.
Just rode past and the door was open and a girl sitting on a chair outside ..looked to be more like a cleaner or setting up gir , than a working bar girl ..so ,foolishly ,didnt stop to ask ,when open ?

Snapped a pic of the new sports bar on my ride past this afternoon. Will add to the map when they open.

Since I was in the area, took a pic of the New Secrets bar too. No indication of when they're opening.

never ceases to amaze me how these bars open everywhere ,when many closing or on verge of,lol, but quite a few opened on khao noi recently mind, I suppose it`s more the merrier,and I ain`t seen a lot of police about lately, so maybe easing up, surely the bars are feeling it, if everyone is scared to have a few beers, but on another note I still see many guys bolloxed and jumping on their bikes,lol

On my bike ride today saw a worker cleaning up after painting at the True Blue sports bar. According to him they opened yesterday. Bar now added to the map.

Last Wednesday True Blue sports bar was open, but very empty.

From the street I could see a very big screen, so probably more sports bar than girlie bar.

Apparently Australian owned.

I rode past the place Wednesday evening too. Open sign was lit, but didn't stop as there was no one outside to entice customers to stop, and didn't see any bikes or cars parked around the place to indicate there might be life inside. To be fair, they just opened so it may take a week or two for them to get fully staffed.

If New Secrets Bar wants to keep all those fences, they better open a “maison close” than girlie bar.

In that case they better replace the big sign by a very discreet doorbell.

Had a beer in True Blue sports bar the other night, nice pool table, average decor, 3 ladies, only 1 good looking. Nothing special, average DS bar.

I did too .. well ,a drink . Did you have the San Mig draft ?
It pours nice and looks great in the glass .( made me want to try one ,though i havent drunk beer in years )

I stopped in there last night, they have tables for each sofa, it's a good place to sit and get a nice view of the girl's legs and backside as they play pool.  Leo 60 baht, good sound system, better than average decor, friendly staff.

On Soi Khao Talo a bar has opened at the previous location of the Dutch-owned The Pub, next to the Kodak shop.

It is very dark with blue lighting and probably a Thai style place.

The only place I can think of is a Kodak type shop opposite the top market near the Tesco Lotus. Do you mean there or can you give more details ?

As I was in the area, took the opportunity to call in to the new Secrets 2 bar last night. Quite liked the layout/décor. 7 p.m. One very miserable looking customer at the bar, sans lady. Several ladies in there but most appeared to be freelancers/just visiting.

Ordered JD on the rocks. Asked for an ashtray and after some mumbling between cashier and server, was told "Smoking outside only". Checkbinned, 140 baht for a single JD, left, never to return.

After that dismal failure, called in at the True Blue sports bar. Got to the door and one of the girls sat outside, observing the cigarette in my hand, said "No smoking in bar". No smoking in a sports bar on the Darkside? I'll give it a month. Before making a sharp exit, looked through the door but no sign of any customers. Quelle surprise!

Decided to give Paradise a try as it had been recommended by a friend. No problem smoking, only one lady worth mentioning, but Buddha was really smiling on me (story for another thread) and had a great time.

There’s a Kodak shop on Soi Khao Talo between Soi 4 and the railway.

Long ago it was the other side of the road.
