Best Sunday roast these days?

Recommended Posts

It seems that Nickeys is very popular, is it going to be difficult to get an empty table on Sunday lunch or dinner time?

For all restaurants in Pattaya that serve British-style Sunday roast dinners, the earlier you can get there, the better, especially if it's a buffet.  All restaurants prepare a limited number of dinners to serve and if you go too late, they can be sold out.  I always tried to hit a buffet as soon as the restaurant began serving it so the food would be fresh and hadn't been standing out too long.

Just been to Nicky’s.  Amazing.

I ordered the large trio.

If there is a better plate of roast on the planet I’ve never seen it.

outstanding.

red wine glass was generous and tasty also.

Got the SR Carvery from Sportsman today, delivered by Foodpanda, was able to get 130B discount so came in at a very reasonable 320B. It was an awesome feed, have soup, ham chicken and pork left over for tomorrow.

Must add, star of the show was the beef. Only criticism was there were no mashed spuds.

Not sure if that was a one off discount.

Would you guys say that there is any difference in the roast quality when ordering on a Sunday compared to any other day of the week? Generally speaking for the restaurants in Pattaya serving roasts. Because my understanding is that a roast is traditionally eaten on Sunday.

During Covid, I regularly had the roast dinners delivered from Sportsman, as Hungrynow did some great offers and must say, no difference from SR.

Sure do miss Hungrynow

Is that supposed to be gravy or Mint sauce--looks like slime?

Quite sure it's Mint. And I fucking love the stuff with lamb.

Looks bland.

Yes, a touch dissapointing, especially compared with the old retox offering. I just figured it was the post covid/inflation effect.

I'm not fussy at all, so its all enjoyed, but some enjoyed more than others.

Last 2 Sunday’s I’ve eaten at the Queen Vic and Robin Hood. Both more than edible but Robin Hood edges it.

Robin Hood is bloody good.  I do the 700 THB option which has all you can eat starters (shrimp cocktail, pigs in blanket, etc), all cuts of meat/vege and as much dessert as you’d like (usually 3 choices).

little more expensive than say the vic but quality is superior at Robin Hood in my opinion

This is really going to be a trip of firsts for me. Never, ever, ever, have I ever been abroad where I could get a traditional Sunday Roast. They look bloody good too!

Part of me is saying 'Why the F are you travelling half way around the world to eat a Sunday dinner?!'

And then there is another part of me that is saying.. 'Go on. Eat it. Its only one day a week'

I did live abroad for 11 years. I missed gravy and salt n Vinegar crisps. There was no way to get them where I was unless someone brought them over for me. So I do understand.

Yorkshire puddings in Thailand. Its quite hillarious actually. Bloody brilliant.

I got this email from Kinnaree:

I don't know if it's the same offer as pre-Covid, but it used to be the Sunday roast was free if you had a high-enough tab.
