Review: Best and Worst Dinner in Pattaya

Recommended Posts

I went last night to Steak and Co on the spur of the moment with my teerak.. Had the sirloin (asked for medium rare, came out rare but was so good I did not care) with baked potato and pepper sauce with a glass of house red. Teerak had Tom Yum Kung.

Bread served up front was excellent.

We both enjoyed it as a one off (comparable to London prices IMO) but plenty more places to try.

I spend a lot of time in London when I am in the UK

You would be extremely hard pushed to find a Resturant in London

Which sold the same Quailty steak with 2 sides and a sauce for £14 more like £25-£30

And you've never even eaten there.

And that has what exactly to do with them serving paste instead of potatoes?

Or taking months to admit it?

Smith & Wollensky, NYC...nope.

Capital Grille, Washington DC...lets see, nope.

  • Au Gratin Potatoes

Hearty slices layered with a blend of cheeses. Not to be missed.

  • Creamed Sweet Corn and Bacon

Seasonal sweet corn sautéed with bacon and finished with cream.

  • French Beans with Heirloom Tomatoes

Crisp baby green beans sautéed with fresh, flavorful ingredients.

  • Fresh Creamed Spinach

Blended with a béchamel sauce for extra creaminess.

  • Grilled Asparagus with Lemon Mosto

Lightly grilled, drizzled with lemon and sprinkled with rare fleur de sel

  • Lobster Mac 'N' Cheese

    As magnificent as it sounds.

  • Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Smoked Bacon

Roasted sprouts and Neuskis slab bacon, finished with grated grana padano and aged sherry vinegar.

  • Roasted Wild Mushrooms

Beautifully seasoned and hearty enough to accompany any steak.

  • Sam's Mashed Potatoes

Red Bliss potatoes, sweet cream, butter and salt. As delicious as it sounds.

  • White Cheddar and Bacon Twice-Baked Potato

Salt crusted potatoes slowly baked and stuffed with chives, aged white cheddar, mascarpone cheese, Grana Padano and crisp bacon, topped with toasted bread crumbs.

French fries $9

According to there website .

This is getting hilarious

Point being

They still can't cook to requirement.

If I order bread and they send me toast even though I love toast and toast is tasty I still would prefer the bread the way I ordered it.

to say you still liked it is irrelevant.

Love a good steak but rather medium rare than fully cooked

Alan, have you seen the movie Frozen? Let it go.

And as this thread is about three pattaya steakhouses, how about laying into the other two whose owners have never responded to any issues?

As they say "put up or shut up"

Patrick's 395 THB Tuesday special, 400G Rump Steak (Thai/French beef)  which is my favorite cut, pretty good for the special price, but I would not pay more than that for it.

So you resort to name calling.

I never slagged off the restaurant I quoted others that did. As I said before I don't need to eat in a place to read the reviews.

The point of reviews are to give info so people can choose to eat there or not.

Have a nice day.

I let it go long ago until others brought it up again so lay into them and "let it go"

Also the other two don't get the bad reviews that steak & co do.

If they sold pasty potato and incorrectly cooked steaks I would criticise them too.

Don't try to start up personal attacks on me. If u have a problem talk to me in a pm.

I am entitled to a personal opinion and a debate.

If you can't do this without trying to rally the gang then I suggest you just put me on ignore.

For those members who have not eaten at S&C or are yet to try the Hand Cut Potato Wedges I highly recommend them, they come with a very nice garlic mayonnaise which is just the right consistency and the crack sea salt just tops them off, very reasonably priced at 80B, compared to Jolly's side of chips for 70B.

Here you go Alan Below are just a few less than stellar reviews and comments I found on a quick trawl of THIS thread. Probably many more around the board too but I can't be arsed looking. Look forward to your scathing remarks about these other businesses.

IMHO Beefeaters steaks are frozen! You can tell by the texture and taste.

I will try Steak and Company soon.  I haven't tried Beafeaters not sure if I should.  I went there once and had the Mexican Buffet it was absolutely terrible with soggy chips and little attention to detail so I am a bit apprehensive about trying their steaks.

I prefer beefeaters to Patrick's for steaks, I thought the steak at Patrick's pretty tasteless

Never been to steak&co so can't comment but heard mixed reviews

Thank u for your input Thomo

But while you try to start a fight I will simply say the following.

Those comments are opinions and everyone is entitled to theirs.

It is not an opinion that the potatoes were fake nor that the steaks on several occasions were not cooked as ordered.

These are facts based on several reviewers here.

Even Nixon says in the comment you posted that"in his opinion" that does not make it fact or the common consensus.

Of the other posters one has never had the steaks by his own admission and the other says he has heard mixed reviews of Steak & Co.

My point exactly so I don't really see yours.

But at least your debating and not name calling ;)

No problem.. You seem like a real fun guy who is just struggling to fit in so I am helping you with some further points for discussion.

Let me know when you are next in town and we can do a steakhouse crawl.

Assuming that the steak is the biggest cost I regularly go to Brazilian and Argentinian steak places and spend around £20 to £25. My meal at S&C cost me just over 1000 the which at today's rate is over £20. I also have included in my thinking the seemingly endless discounted deals that one gets via Groupon, Wowcher etc.

Back to more food reviews from people on the ground, who get around.... :GoldenSmile1:

I would not recommend Beer Corner Steak and Bar next to Rosco's on Soi Honey for your steakhouse crawl, we would never hear the end of it, tough Thai beef and raw onions @ 385B, not the usual German quality.
