I've heard good things about the breakfasts at CT ,and went three times a couple of weeks ago , but there are very few tables and I couldn't get a seat, so I had to go somewhere else.

 

If you could somehow fit more tables in , I'm sure you would do a lot more business ,as the reputation of the place is good.

Planning on a trip in May for about 5 days. Is May consider low season?

Yes our high season is 1st December to 1st March but always up for a deal depending on availability.

 

I've heard good things about the breakfasts at CT ,and went three times a couple of weeks ago , but there are very few tables and I couldn't get a seat, so I had to go somewhere else.

 

If you could somehow fit more tables in , I'm sure you would do a lot more business ,as the reputation of the place is good.

Difficult really re not enough room, the books take up a lot of space of course and why we offer all day breakfasts as peoples sleeping habits demand, hope you can get a seat next time.

Someone mentioned today we had a huge True Crime section and we have nearly 1000 true crime books,

Been watching all the happenings in Bangkok and with my luck there will be a military coup and shut down of the airport either the day I am due to arrive or the day due for departure. (I hope not!)

 

Whatever happens hope you stay safe and that I will to be able to say hello sooner rather than later.

Having stayed at the CT 3 times now , you would be surprised how busy the bookshop is both with  visitors and expats.

 

I personally do not think  there is better value ( have stayed in a lot of places in patts ) .

 

I am staying again in march .

Excellent location:  Baht busses go both ways on Buakow, a block or so from LK Metro, Lolitas, Bliss, easy walking to plenty of restaurants and Mike Mall, just a little farther to walk to The Avenue or Central Festival.

 

Nice breakfast (I haven't tried eating there for any other meal)

 

Dave's a great host and happy to share information and advice (big help on my first visit)

 

Excellent value for rooms larger than most at hotels for twice the price. They even give a PA Card discount.

 

Only downsides compared to hotels are no elevators, only clean every 2nd day and "front desk" in the bookshop/restaurant just open 8am to 8pm.

 

As a repeat customer, I have obviously decided the upsides outweigh the downsides.

Really nice review and explanation of the differences between budget hotels and guest houses. 

 

Liked the video that shows the room. I've stayed at Dave's place before and it's always been one of the best guest houses in town.
