everyday is fryday, new fish n chip place

The Every day is fry day chippy does a decent Dory and chips

But I had the cod one time which was a major disappointment

The cod portion was half the size of the Dory portion and twice the price

The cod was very dry and almost uneatable

All the other meals I had in the cafe were very good value and good quality for the price

The Cod he uses is the loin cut and although it's a prime cut, it wouldn't be my first choice either.

It may well have looked smaller, but it was probably a fair bit heavier.

I think the problem is that the loin is usually taken from bigger (older) fish and although it tastes OK, it's often tough.

It seems like that's the only Cod available since Emborg stopped importing - Jolly Friar had the same problem - tough as old boots.

Despite that, the guy is doing the best job by far in Pattaya.

Yep

Totally agree

Best value for money fish and chips in patts

You can easily pay twice as much ( pig and whistle) and get a plate of tosh

If this is true and this place is closed I will be so sad.

I hope owner took a break and open again. If he can not make a profit he can raise the price to 150 baht and I still eat everyday.

the thing about this place is the taste not price

I was watching them cut the cod. As stated it seems like a loin piece which they cut vertical into chunks. Should it be cut horizontally into fillets, similar to what you would do to chicken breast to make schnitzel?

Well it's already a fillet, but I'm inclined to agree that it could be cut with a little more imagination, like at an angle so that it looks a bit more like a regular fillet.

It really doesn't look good as he does it and it looks smaller that its weight if that makes sense. It might also be less dry and tough than it sometimes is.

I think you're right if he cut it as you say and opened it butterfly style it would look better and perhaps cook better.

Yep

Tried the cod once

Found it to be very dry almost uneatable

All the other items I have tried on the menu have been good

Try the half chicken very tasty
