Marriott hotel was central nice pools and gardens and felt secluded but right in the centre of things and easy to walk about with direct acess to a nice shopping centre with a great food court on the roof ( sorry i forget the name ) the room had a great view of the bay ,

Has the Marriot chaged it's joiner fee policy then? I remember writing to them and they said there "was" a joiner fee.

i didnot have a problem but i did only bring the same girl back every day so perhaps that was the reason as they had her details on record when she handed in her id card

Grwat report mate. Thanks for sharing. What about LK Ren joiner policy? Did you experience any problem with them?

I will take 2 different girl for ST. Is it applicable or do they charge for 2nd girl.

Oh great. Nice to hear that. Thanks again for the review.

By the way, LK Ren must be very popular so no studio room for first half of May.

Yes LK Renaissance is currently very popular. It is not always full as all hotels have some windows, but it is certainly one of the hotels where advanced booking would be advised.

Others are Page 10 and August Suites.

Sunshine hotel soi 8 ticks all the boxes. Pool, free WiFi, in room safe, cable TV, buffet breakfast for two and girl friendly all for about $30 on Pagoda. Heaps of bars selling 50 baht beers nearby too.

Pagoda = Agoda haha

Stayed many times in Marriott and right now Im also staying here. I can confirm this hotel is very guest friendly, no joiner fee. If you email them they will reply with their official statement. If you are here you and your guest will be treated very well.

I used to stay at Eastiny Seven and tried some of the other hotels in the Eastiny Group on Sois 7 and 8 over the years.  Right now I love April Suites.  Clean, quiet rooms.  Nice pool with very friendly, helpful staff.  A short walk down the soi towards Talat Pattaya Klang for mangoes, fresh coffee, and Thai grandmas to bother in the morning after seeing off last night's lovely.  Love it.  Also, only a short stroll or songtaew ride toward Soi 6, or a nice walk the other way toward LK/Diana.

Update covering April and May 2103

Contrary to the sometimes bad publicity on the forum re the "over 20" rule Areca Lodge has been by far the most booked since I last reported. The rest of the list looks very familiar though.

If you want Page 10 - again you need to book that one wel in advance. they do have some windows but advanced booking is still required in most dates anhd cases.

1. Areca Lodge - by some way.

2. Page 10.

3. LK Renaissance.

4. Intimate Hotel - formerly Tim Boutique.

5. The Stay - only newcomer.

It is very tights from 2-10 with both April Suites and August Suites stil prominent.

Main fallers are Dusit Barracuda but this might be the low season factor only.

I was recommended to stay at Sandalay hotel, corner of Beach Road and Soi 2, on my next visit.

I sent an email to the hotel:

. I am coming to Thailand and have been recommended to Sandalay hotel.

Do you charge visitor fees?

Please advise.

Reply just received:

. Thank you very much for your query please note that the Joiner Fee is THB 500 per person per night

Regards

SANDALAY RESORT

So Sandalay must reluctantly be crossed off the list.

Siam Bayview offer great location on beach road and many rooms with seaview, 2 pools and quality restaurant, open in 1982 but many renovation since. A great hotel, really first class intenational standard, with large garden from beach to second road, even i prefer the Siam Bayshore because in walking street and more large garden. Not really girl friendly usually 1000 bahts joiner if you don't book a double room.

i  stayed at the siam bayview on my first visit last month, excellent place but they had small bathroom/shower and yeah a joiner fee so i paid to have a 2nd name on the list ... friendly helpful staff that always made me feel welcome and really close to the action .. because of joiner fee im trying out the Page 10 hotel . sweet location great price and looks good on the web page ... if i can remember after my 2 weeks of XTC  in mid july ill post a report up on my experiences :)

yup i went for my first trip in may and had to come right back in july :) im a addict :) :) :)

I just asked Tim Botique about joiner fees - first free, then 1000 bhat per joiner after that.  I love the hotel, but I won't be staying there again.  300 B is okay, but 1000 - no way.  Any recommendations on hotels with reasonable / no joiner fees for guest 2 and 3?

I get a feeling that The page 10 prices have certainly shot up since my trip in Jun of 2012.

A quick update covering time from last report to 6th July 2013. Its pretty much the same as usual with one very notable exception - the Marriott has SHOT to top place, and by some considerable margin. Perhaps surprising due to its cost, and peoples assumptions that higher priced hotels are less girl friendly, However unsurprising given the very high number of recommendations for this hotel on the forum in recent months pointing out that it is girl and guest friendly.

Top 5 28 May - 6th July inclusive

1. Marriott

2. Page 10

3. LK Renaissance

4. Intimate Boutique (formerly Tim Boutique)

5. August Suites

My last (which was also my first) trip to pattaya had me stay at page 10 after much research. Thanks to whitespider, i now have a final 4 to choose from for my upcoming trip in the second week of August - the best deal from the bottom 4 in the list above. Assuming they all still support liberal Joiner fee policies.

Copied from another thread but pertinent here

After reading and posting in the following thread I thought I would pass this info' on.

http://www.pattaya-a...-2#entry2259668

Over the last 4 weeks we have run a fairly extensive "test" using the forums Agoda affiliate account. Before I continue I need to make 4 things clear.

1. I am NOT suggesting that you will not be able to "walk in" or book late. I am merely passing on the results that emerge from that test.

2. The test was run after the visitor numbers were released by TAT recently showing huge increases in visitor numbers recently and the huge increase they are predicting for 2014. The recent increases are factual - their 2014 predictions I will believe when I see them. However the FACT remains that visitor numbers are massively UP but these are predominantly Russian and Chinese visitors. This means we see a big DROP in room availability but at the same time fewer people in the bars.

3. Most of you know, but I will reiterate that we are paid commission when people book on Agoda (or several other online sites) if booked via a link or banner on PA. I make no excuses for this - without those booking there would be no forum anyway.

4. I have ONLY tested on Agoda - however it is (fairly) safe to say that the results would be "pro rata" across all booking options.

I have run checks across approx 60 hotels (using the most booked by members) and for each hotel checked approx 50 "dates" ranging from July 2013 to March 2014.

The results are that from July to end of October 40% of the dates we tried to book were "unavailable".

This increased to almost 60% between November 2013 and 1st March 2014.

These figures obviously vary from hotel to hotel. However if you wish to book any of the following hotels I strongly advise advanced booking and also booking in full. I do, of course, hope some will use Agoda (from our links) but it also applies equally to other booking options and direct. I am trying my best to list these in "order" but it is somewhat inexact. I did NOT check Bangkok or Phuket etc (yet).

This list is NOT exclusive these are simply the ones that had the lowest availability rates by some distance and many are frequently in our "top 10 booked by PA members list.

On a final note - but quite important

To those of you who DO book through Agoda, specifically to help with forum costs, a big thank you. HOWEVER - Agoda have removed the "repeat visitor" payments (we are not exactly sure when as they didnt notify us). Previously if you booked through Agoda you remained our "client" for future bookings. That is no longer the case so you need to book via a link or banner AGAIN for the forum to receive the credit.

Really surprising Marriot took the number 1 spot. Sure if you get a great deal on Marriot it's not that much more expensive than Page 10 and arguably nicer, though last time my room had many problems.

I think Marriot is a steal if you can get if for someting like 3600 or so. Location is just perfect, great pool area, good service and best beds in Pattaya. Then again it is expensive if you get the regular 5000 bath price for standard room.
