I would tread very cautiously as this is a "new" Ebay seller that has made (0) sales. Send him a PM and ask if that price includes 12 months streaming, I can guess the answer. The box may have "The Listings" but will definitely not include streaming them to the box. No way.

 

If you are thinking of buying a box on Ebay I would not advise using a seller with zero sales. I have been supplying British TV to Expats for almost 14 years.

 

Our box gets the streams from a dedicated server not from random 3rd parties that can be on one day and off the next.

 

This is what similar boxes to ours sell for from a trusted Ebay seller with (700+) sales under his belt.

The MINIX is a FANTASTIC bit of kit that many people are very happy with.

 

I find using a keyboard with my fat fingers a chore and having to download repositories and updating etc is far too much hassle "for me" when I found the MAG250 box I was drawn to it as it is totally idiot proof, requires no manual updating and has a proper remote control that allows me to flick through the channels.

 

I would not feel comfortable selling a box that relies on 3rd party streams from persons unknown, especially if supplying a sports bar who must have 99.99% up time 24/7.

 

That said; I know loads of people that have the MINIX and swear by it.

Interesting information back in 2013 when thousands of Brits in Spain braced themselves for loosing the UK TV beam with the launch of the new Astra satellite with a tighter beam on the UK leaving many without a signal.

 

This is when the MAG250 Box started to appear in Spain, Cyprus and Portugal using the Stalker software platform.

UK TV SERVERS

 

Despite what some suppliers may say, in order to supply UK TV via the internet in Thailand such as SKY SPORTS or SKY ATLANTIC etc each channel supplied requires a feed, most suppliers get these feeds from 3rd party suppliers that are often and most of the time both unreliable and prone to being poor quality.

 

With a vast number of bars relying on our service we only use dedicated servers that do not rely on 3rd party streams. 

 

What is a dedicated stream?

 

A dedicated stream comes from an individual UK SKY BOX that is used exclusively for clients that subscribe to the service. This guarantees both picture quality and guaranteed service 24/7 as the supplier is being paid to provide a service and is accountable unlike unknown 3rd party suppliers. 

 

What's the big deal about a dedicated stream?

 

If you want uninterrupted viewing and the peace of mind that when you want to watch a particular channel that it will be working 99.99% of the time then a dedicated stream is the way to go. 

 

Why is the MAG250 service more than double the price of Android?

 

The MAG250 box itself can be purchased for around £75 in the UK on Ebay or similar platforms, the big expense is the streaming service from a provider that has a server room full of SKY BOXES that provides each individual channel using commercial fibre optic internet.

Each individual channel comes from an individual SKY BOX that must be paid for each month.

 

As you can see the monthly cost of having all these SKY BOXES and SKY subscriptions is huge and in addition to the cost of paying for all these subscriptions the supplier also has to pay for the COMMERCIAL GRADE internet connections, our supplier has three fibre optic connections that are load balanced and run through equipment that streams the channels that cost in excess of £55'000. Most of the 3rd party unknown  and unreliable spare bedroom streaming service providers often rely on domestic grade internet.

 

All of these streams originate in the UK, France, Belgium and The Netherlands as these counties are able to receive the satellite signals from the Astra satellite. It is impossible to receive any signals from the Astra satellites in SE Asia as the beams are focused on the UK, most of Southern Spain is unable to receive the beams anymore so receiving these beams in SE Asia is a big no no, this means that all UK TV streams in SE Asia come from 3rd party streaming services such as Filmon for example.

 

My Android supplier says that he does not rely on 3rd party streams!

 

With the majority of pre-loaded Android boxes being sold for £150 and no monthly or yearly fees most Android boxes rely on 3rd party streams from unknown and or unreliable sources, Filmon is a favorite for most Android boxes as are numerous suppliers that can be found that supply plug ins that are often spare bedroom operations that are great for several months that then disappear.

 

It is a shame but a fact that the majority of Android box sellers charge no management fees after the box has been sold with a £40 / £50 profit "at best" so providing long term support and or dedicated streams is simply not viable and or possible as internet costs and subscription costs add up to at least £1000 a month based on 15 premium channels such as SKY SPORTS and SKY MOVIES. It would be financial suicide to not use a 3rd party streaming supplier unless you are charging a yearly or monthly management fee, especially if you have servers around the world. 

 

Even with the current cold weather in the UK the server room has two air-con units turned on 24/7 as the heat from all the satellite receivers and equipment is immense,.

 

If an Android box has SKY SPORTS, SKY MOVIES, BT SPORTS etc they will be supplied by a third party supplier often unknown, unaccountable and unreliable as they have no financial incentive to provide the service. 

 

A prime example of a 3rd party stream supplier is Sports Devil, this is a available for FREE using XBMC (Kodi) that is also FREE, if you have a PC or Laptop download XBMC and watch this demo video how to download the plug in, please be aware that attempting to use XBMC may result in you smashing up your PC as it is a nightmare to use and incredibly demanding when all you want to do is watch TV and end up having to download repositories and do updates just to watch a bit of TV, way too much hassle in our opinion.

Why do I need to buy a Android box when I can simply download XBMC on my laptop or PC for FREE?

 

You don't! You can buy a HDMI cable that will connect your PC or laptop to your Television and start watching the FREE 3rd party streams for FREE, you may want to get someone that knows what they are doing to come and set it up for you though make sure it is someone you really like as they will be coming around every two or three days.

 

Is using XBMC a reliable way to watch FREE UK TV?

What is the best way to watch UK TV in SE Asia?

 

Buy a MAG250 with a dedicated supplier, it is certainly not the cheapest option but you get what you pay for.

 

 

Disclaimer; The thoughts and opinions above are my opinion and whilst some people may find using an Android device OK I think that the MAG250 is 100 times better as you get a proper remote control and it is so simple to use, turn it on and its up and running. If you are a fan of XBMC, Android, and spare bedroom 3rd party streaming suppliers that is fine by us. We do not supply Android or Raspberry PI as it is just way too much hassle and we simply cannot run a business that has no income or profit.
