Of course they would .... but not if an English player was to show the level of courage and nerve that Smith has shown. Those Pommie fans are cowards.

Thought is was a very low act form the English supporters booing Smith when he can back on after his injury. Very low.

 :ThumbDown1:

he's a cheating shit weasel, the lowest of the low gets what the lowest deserves. Now the aussies are crying about fast bowlers and bouncers, funny as given the fact it has been their go to tactic for years. I wonder if steve smith cried when he got off the pitch, the sniveling weasel is good at that.

All things aside it makes an exciting day of cricket, if england can get to 200+ then dec and make the aussies face a bit more chin music I think eng could level up the series. If the aussies get some rapid wickets, they could be on for a run chase to go 2 up. All results are still possible.

You don’t know your history. The Australian players and fans took great pleasure hitting the poms  with fast bowlers and bouncers and nothing wrong with that . Smith loved the bully boy treatment and sledging. And nothing wrong with that . But when the cheating cunt got found out he cried like a baby. now  that’s what I call a coward

Come on guys , Steve Smith  Warner and Bancroft got caught and served their time ,  imo it was not harsh enough , but give Steve Smith credit for coming back as well as he has , looks several levels up on any other batsman in this series .

Booing of players will always happen , but you have to respect players of genuine world class even if you don't like them .

As regards the cricket , still enough time for one or both sides to implode before tonight's close .

He faced up to his crimes, paid the price and he's come back better than ever. . takes a leot of guts to do what he's done. Nothing cowardly about that. Your defending those pommie cowards who sit in the crowd and anonymously boo champions knowing that they won't be called out..just like the keyboard warriors who attempt to defend the cowards. We know where you stand ....

You only wish the dirty whinging poms could find a batsmen half as good as Smith.. fortunately they never will unless they recruit a coward from another country

All countries over the years have had episodes of ball tampering so for me it is all a storm in a sandpit.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_tampering

As far as Smith getting hit it is all part of cricket. The rest is a small section of the crowd whose cricket nous does not rise above the level of T20 cricket.

Pity if a great series is overshadowed by boorish behaviour

CA have announced under concussion protocol that Steve Smith has been withdrawn from this match and will be replaced by another batsmen ,  Labuchagne .

He said he was feeling groggy this morning ,  and must be a doubt for the next test which is only 4 days away .

Under the protocols, a player shouldn’t return to full training for at least 6 days. Don’t think it’s mandatory though.

Ton for Stokes , England set Aus. 267 in 48 overs

13/1  Warner giving gully catching practice .      Draw heavy favourite still

17/2   Khawaja also gone     both to Archer who was given the new ball in preference to Woakes

It wasn’t the whole crowd booing him, just as bad as the Aussies who gave Simon Jones some when he was writhing in agony at Brisbane having suffered a potentially career ending injury. Didn’t Michael Clarke mention the possibility of breaking an England players arm? Lots of examples of people of all nationalities with no decency.

All taking it a bit seriously. For me, it’s only a game.

Some fast paced, short pitched cricket from both teams, it’s what test match cricket is all about, or was anyway.

2 down with Archer on fire, great entertainment.

seriously what are you going on about? Khawaja was born in islamabad, Neser was born in pretoria, and Labuschagne was born in klerkdorps south africa.

As for boorish behaviour, do the chaps down under not understand the meaning of irony?

Let’s get back to discussing the actual cricket please - or Jenny may have some company.

The cricket is getting interesting    48/3  Leach gets Bancroft with a shooter .  Pressure pressure .

Only 30 overs left though .   Damn that rain !

More posts hidden. Jenny now has company. Any Aussies fancy joining the 2 poms in there?

Looking like a draw, but you never know. Will still give confidence to England though and put some doubts into the minds of the Australians. Maybe it won’t be 4-0 after all :)

Australia 6 down at end of game , momentum with England but that can quickly change .   Archer a real game breaker.

Next test is Headingley on Thursday and the weather is predicted much better .   Sure to be changes in both teams , too many batsmen on both sides not contributing .   Makes for exciting cricket though .

This is turning into a memorable series. If they wanted to stir some interest in test cricket they couldn't have come up with a better storyline than this.

Haters gonna hate. Archer is doing his job well, an amazing talent. Aussies need Starc back in the line-up.

To quote the eloquent English Soccer fans

1-0 1-0 1-0 1-0

:P

Archer has certainly turned the series on it's head however I expect him to breakdown in the next test as over bowling in back to back test matches will be his undoing.

OZ should go in with Starc Patterson & Cummings when the "sporty" deck is produced.

Can't wait

Simple  Equation now..................3 tests remaining , Australia needs to win only ONE of them to retain the ashes

Unlike the world cup final, there is no count back for the number of 4's hit if England  manage to level the  series..........

After that happens, maybe the crowds and the English press will start booing their own
