Steak & Co. in Soi Lengkee (formerly China Garden)

China Garden

It is a great place to stay I stay on that soi...just saying the people that stay in the area would generally spend less on meals than people in a more upmarket area.

Take a look in Jockey,s/18 Coins/Robins Nest/Malees Lodge/Cafe Pitini/Jollys etc where meals start from 100 baht up and you will see customers in-basic simple food at a price which is relatively inexpensive, this is what the majority of guys in Patts prefer-cater for these type of people and you have a chance, try and go upmarket in this area and sadly I feel you will struggle.

opening in low season isn't so bad as the staff can get the bugs out before high season.

Yep

I believe that it's a great idea.

(staff training, locate and remedy small problems & things to tune)

Clever management :Think1:

I agree with all the comments posted, it will take some time to build our reputation but every new business has that challenge. We want people to come in and spend an evening with us, enjoy good company, good food & good wine... yes its probably once a month occasion for Pattaya residents or perhaps a couple of times if your on holiday.

Eventually we will have a "lunch time menu" & "kids menu" .....& probably a Sunday roast to be proud of, it just takes a little bit of time and perseverance

I like the attitude .... I would defo eat at this place when in Patts ... Probably a once a week thing... Tee lack would enjoy and be very greatful.... :)

Are you going to do anything like a proper prime rib roast? Yorkshire pudding and such. Love that meal cook it often on the ship I work on for the guys. Can't wait to try your place and hopefully meet you?

Yes our plan is to offer a "proper Sunday Roast" ... Its won't be cheap but on the other hand it will have proper roast beef, lamb & all the trimmings... There would be no point in us replicating the 199 Baht roasts done locally.

Yuri & Gerry are in the restaurant everyday, I unfortunately have to fly to the UK shortly on business then probably China.. but I am sure they will both take good care of you.

cheers,

ian

The decor looks fantastic!

I'm sure the scoff is good but "the decor" just looks like a straight rip-off of the Steak & Co place in London that was mentioned at the beginning of the thread ...  the frontage, the font used in the logo, the bare brick wall, the "quality" stamp, the button padded bench seating ...

Steak & Co in London dont have an "Australian theme", the cattle stamp / logo is pretty common through-out the Steakhouse restaurant as is brick-work, I guess its like seeing an Italian with fresco pictures of the leaning tower of Pisa on the wall.

Steak & Co in the UK is a "sizzling lava stone" cook your own steakhouse offering lots of herb butters which melt as the steak cooks in front of you.. we on the other hand are white plate & cooked steaks ... We specialise in Australian Black Angus as Australian is our common theme...

We did email them and ask if the had copy-write on the name & I recently set up a Thai company called Steak & Co Ltd  ....  Any cross over with them is purely coincidental as we too are a steakhouse.

They did not reply via Facebook, "contact us" on their website or via direct email, I kept records of all such communications showing "due diligence", as regards "pass ourselves off as them" I have consulted a lawyer (from the UK) who has informed me that our business model is so significantly different and colour schemes / décor that they would have little or no legal grounds to pursue the matter

I took the name "Steak & Co" as its modern and says in my mind "we are a professional steakhouse" ... I doubt very much that the place you are talking about in London was the original steak & co either.

Have a look on Trip  Advisor under  "Steak & Co"  and your see a fair few around the world ... google and your find more

I was talking about the decor/appearance, nothing else ... it looks uncannily similar to the place in London irrespective of your Australian theme, or their use of butter.

This is the UK's  Steak & Co type of cuisine....

Which part of "decor" do you have difficulty understanding?

For the record we had the fillet mignon, the T Bone and the lemon cello tarfuto. Looking forward to sampling a few more from the menu if I can still get a seat after word gets out.

No problem Ian we had a great night. I hope you see at least a few of the guys I have already recommended check you out. We have eaten at Beefeater & Patricks so have a pretty good idea of the state of steaks in Pattaya. A on rates her fillet higher than the Hilton 1600 baht tender loin.

Take a look at jockeys,18 coins, robins nest,me lees lodge, jollys, jolly friar, etc and you will see that the cheap inexpensive simple food has been overdone in pattaya. Look a block away at Beefeater , big horn , Patrick's , and you will see that gentleman in this area enjoy a special meal with there significant other for an enjoyable evening that they both will not soon forget.

I think there are certain similarities in the appearance of the two places.  Obviously, purely coincidental.   :WinkGrin1:

Thanks Skalliway and Ertert, I think she is pretty special to :)

BTW the baked tomatoes stuffed with spinach are the bomb, not to Aon's taste so I got to enjoy both of them.
