Best Burgers in town

Recommended Posts

Finally located the new Shenanigans out by Lake Maprachan. This Burger is called the "Bad Boy" and has pan fried onions, mushrooms, bacon, a slice of gherkin, lettuce and very tasty buns.

Shenanigans has been there since at least early July, but no sign out front! Outdoor and Inside AC seating and bars are availalbe with Magners and Guiness on tap as well as 2 other beers, I was not paying attention enough to recall what the other 2 beers were, one was a brand I did not recognize, probably from Ireland, I think the other was Heineken maybe?  They also has a fridge full of other beers, wine and softies.  My son had the Dory Fish and Chips, and said it was very good, cod was 40 baht more, but he prefers Dory.

Opening hours are from 08:00 until late.

The place used to be called the Peacock I beleive and has rooms to rent for a lakeside holiday.  From town, on SSCC Road, it is on the lake, about 200-300m past Nifty's and Happy Days 2 and the Numbe 1 bar.

Not Pattaya but should you find yourself on a side trip to Bangkok, get your laughing gear around one of these.

It's from "Daniel Thaiger" burger van, he can be found most nights half way down soi 23 off sukumvitt.

Probably in my top five burgers ever.

Now that is a burger! !!!

Apparently Pim from Voodoo fame is the cook out there now!

Sorry, it was not actually priced on the menu and my wife paid the chek bin, so I did not look to see.

I will go by there again another day and check the price and post it.

jesse99, thanks for the recommendation, went and tried it and you were right. For 150 baht, this can't be beaten for value, outstanding burger. Didn't expect there to be bacon on it too, but was pleasantly surprised. Even the little side salad was really nice (might have just lost all the burger lovers after that last comment). Fries were average, not to say there was anything negative about them, just normal shoestring fries. Great presentation and you can see by the colours, all the vegetables are very fresh.

First time I have ever eaten here, Sandbar itself is a really lovely place, inside has like a glasshouse type setting or you can sit outside too. Will be back here for sure.

Just had a burger at Sandbar, really good burger, and good value for 150 baht, with fries and salad.

Fries were kind of average, but not bad. The cup they come in is stupid, but dumping them out solves that :)

Really nice location too, right on the beach, I can see coming here for lunch and then a beach siesta.

My comments were not aimed at anyone specifically, more as perhaps a pointer towards what guys want/expect/need.

I am familiar with Pattaya and its surrounds but most BM,s I suspect are not.

As for prices I was taking the title of the topic literally, what actually quantifies "The best burgers in town" ?

The best must be obviously available in town and be very tasty but most importantly must be at a price level that everyone can afford or feel okay about paying for it, without knowledge of the price it just becomes something to look at on PA rather than to go and taste.

I've seen lots of posts, not only on PA, where people talk about restaurants but omit to say where they precisely are and what the costs of the food were but they do put some pretty food porn pictures on them.

Thats all I was saying and certainly not aimed at any one person.

Cheers

IMO If I'm not asked how I want the burger cooked when ordering, it's safe to assume I'll be served a dry, grey lump of a burger that will rely on condiments for moisture and flavor. After trying a few recommended burgers in this thread (Golf Club, Punch and Judy's, OZ Burger, Metro Burger) the only one cooked to order and excellent is Momentos cheeseburger. It was a 250 gram, (1/2+ lb.) cooked correctly to medium rare, served on a french bun with spinach, cheese and egg. Other fresh fixings were on the side along with a mountain of thin, crisp fries. The meat was charred on the outside and red, not raw, on the inside. While waiting for the burger a tray of appetizers including brioche, a small tart, a tiny hot dog wrapped in pastry and sauce was served at no extra cost. It was a small serving, not warmed, but a nice touch.

The ambiance of Momentos has to be mentioned. I was there at night and the eating area is set around an artfully landscaped and lit swimming pool and patio area. The tables are set with table cloths and spaced generously apart. There's a bar to one side with stools and popular music is played at a comfortable conversation level. The feeling imparted by this setting is one of quiet Serenity in the middle of Pattaya's hustle and bustle, that nurtures conversation while dining.

Service was prompt, accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. The only two shortcomings were the manager/head waitress got my order wrong and I was given a single cheeseburger instead of the double, as ordered. She apologized when she served me, but in retrospect, I couldn't have eaten all of a double burger. The other issue was there apparently aren't enough condiment trays as they took mine away to another table before I was through with my meal.

The cost was 290 baht for the cheeseburger and the double burger is 340 baht, both a bargain considering the quality and quantity of the food, the service and establishment. A fruity apertif served in a shot glass came with the check. I wouldn't recommend showing up for dinner in a wife beater and flip flops, it's not that casual in the evening.

Pictures and directions are in just hanging's review, #457, page 19 of this thread as I wasn't planning to do a review when there.

Has anyone tries Steak and Co for a burger?

I don't get burgers very often (trying to eat healthy)  so I don't mind paying a bit more (the Menu says 350 baht for a Wagu cheese burger) if it is really good quality and has that grilled taste.

It's only $10 anyway.

Nope, first food/restaurant review ever. My palate isn't very sophisticated. I didn't ID the cheese but it had a distinct European flavor and the egg was cooked just enough as to not be dried out like most eggs served on top in Pattaya.

In July/August the burgers were excellent.

And so were the potato wedges, the onion rings are not worth bothering with tho.

I went to steak & co a couple of months ago and it was decidedly average.

I was there for an hour and I was the only customer there.

The burger was average and the lobster bisque was very bland
