For outdoors at nighttime and indoors I like my old Samsung EX1 F1.8, 10 mega pixels! :)

kamera.thumb.jpg.76df359a3c72a7fdbb34fda27f8b5ce2.jpg

Small and pocketable, easy to carry around, with reasonable good pictures even in low light.

Here are some night time pictures from Pattaya, no flash or photoshopping only downsized the original pics to 800 pixels, and all photos taken handheld only without tripod!

A slightly enhanced close up crop, more light, colors saturated and sharpness reduced to soften skintone!

What's your opinion or review of the Frog beer bar pictured?  I see there's a girl on a poll and some bargirls - get a close look at the quality of the girls?

Resulting in gathering more light ... you're right in the amount of light the lens let go trough by a certain F number (what i already wrote in the first sentence) but as a full frame has as you say bigger photosites it is able to gather more light . That's why i wrote size (sensitivity) is what makes the difference .

I think we can just agree to disagree on the light gathering issue. I think we agree on a simple truth that in general given the same technical quality of two sensors the larger sensor will deliver the cleaner image.

It is why even now high end product photographers and even studio fashion photographers shoot medium format. Those cameras are big bulky slow and no-one would choose to work with them other than the results are on another level compared to even the best full frame cameras.

For me I am looking for a smaller kit not a bigger one so no medium format for me.

Photo with that shadow looks good, the lighting is off camera so the shadow is not directly behind the girl and with it off to the left along with the way you have it cropped, it looks good.

How do you like the focus system in your DF?

Sorry for taking so long to reply. Focus system is good for slow portraiture which is what i use it for. It doesn't have edge to edge focus points which i wished it did when i shoot in portrait orientation. If I want a shot in landscape orientation it is fine. In any case if you are a focus and recompose guy it wouldn't matter but I am not. I like to use the focus point in shot.

I have never felt the need to upgrade the body and I have way too many lenses. in fact I just have too much camera stuff. Might upgrade if the new Nikon mirrorless is any good but then again I might not. Should sell some lenses though.

The mirrorless rumor mill is running strong.  I too want to see what Nikons offering on this one will be.  My understanding is that there will be a new lens series, as the F mount that we use now will not work without an adapter...now if they get the adapter done up right, that would ease the transition.

Really a shame that they handicapped the DF with the focus system they used.

Well I have recently jumped from a Panasonic GX85 to the G9, also upgraded two lens to Lumix/Leica.  I am really loving the camera and the 42.5mm 1.2 is simply amazing.

I carry around a Ricoh GR II. It's not the fanciest, but it fits in my front pocket, starts super fast, and takes great photos. The snap focus mode is a treat. It doesn't look like much either, so I don't worry too much about theft. I may upgrade to a GR III soon.

Normally use a Canon eos 7D with grip and a 28-105mm on my travels.

Depending on space and/or checked baggage weight restrictions on whatever flight I'm on,I have been know to substitute  it for a Fuji finepix S9500 or just use the phones camera.

Almost bought the new huawei p30 pro but then decided on the samsung galaxy s10 plus. But I sold it again, as the camera was not good enough for me. Unfortunately even the best smartphone cameras are not as good as even cheap dedicated cameras like the sony a6000 yet, especially when it comes to manual stuff like long exposure or a nice looking bokeh. But I think in around 2-3 years that will change. So for now I am looking for the release of the pixel 4, as the pixel 3, even when it costs only a fraction of the price of current flagship phones, gets mentioned with them in the same sentence when it comes to photography. The Pixel 4 could take the lead for best cameras when it gets released. Not necessarily because of the hardware, but because of the software.

Most of the photos of girls i have posted here were taken with a simple Sony W1 5 megapix.

For the past 4 years i have been using a Sony RX 100  Mk 1 (set at Program with only change to put flash on or off)

Some pics.

Sorry the camera names are similar. The last photo of the girl in the massage shop was taken with the old Sony DSC W1 5 megapix.

Here is a replacement taken with the Sony RX100 Mk 1

The sunrise is the "artistic" filter in the camera, really like that shot...  The others pretty much out of the camera.  I am not very good with post work yet.  When I retire that will be a project.
