Although I feel that this is an improvement but fear it will be time consuming and slow down the approval of deserving posters.

Wouldn't it be more efficient to screen for undesirables. who I hope are outnumbered by desirables, and restrict them?

I understand your rules to cut out the T**ts who just sit on the internet all day long and slag everyone off who posts something or asks a question. I am also a member on some of those sights, and get P****d off when u ask something and all you get is "do a search"... does that not tell a story that the content is not layed out properly.

Damn I even tried advertising on Pattaya-addicts to try and get Trusted status.

 

The advertising guys said that I needed to wait for a spot to open up. Ahh well just going to have to wait in line for my trusted status.

Due to abuse of the Pattaya Addicts policy that automatically promoted Members to Trusted Members once they had made 25 posts we have decided to change how Members are promoted to Trusted Member status.

 

Pattaya Addicts Administrators will now review the posts made by each Member prior to them being elevated to the Trusted Member level. A review will automatically take place after a Member has reached 25 posts and a decision will be made by the Administrators whether their posts merit their being elevated or not.

 

This is not being done to punish anyone but rather to increase the amount of intelligent and meaningful content being posted on the forum and to tone down the amount of one word and one line posts which are being made with the specific purpose of getting to the next level.

 

It is still acceptable to make a short post to congratulate someone, wish them well, thank them for their post or pictures and other such things for which a shorter post may be appropriate but in order to be elevated some significant posts must be made which offer new content to the forum.

 

It is hoped that this policy will encourage more Member participation on the forum and lead to more of the Members being active in ongoing discussions.

 

The Administrators may also decide to elevate someone early if it is determined that their participation and postings are of an above average level and warrant it.

 

Some of the best ways to get yourself noticed early are by submitting trip reports, bar and hotel reviews. Posts with photos are always regarded more highly than those without and a friendly, congenial and helpful attitude towards other Members is greatly appreciated by all.

 

Anyone who believes that they are worthy of an early promotion is free to appeal to the Administrators at any time and their posting history will be reviewed.

 

Elevation to Trusted Member will still gain you access to all of the Trusted Member forums as well as unfettered access to the picture gallery.

 

Members who are being reviewed/awaiting review will show as Member + in their profile under Group.

I don't know what problems you've had in the past but I am certainly not going to post trip reports on a website that excluded me from membership prior to making a trip when I most need the info. I see your point but the fact remains that we have to asses new members based on their contributions to the forum. It is fairer to trusted members who post things that they only want made available to "trusted" members. As the article said, you are free to appeal for trusted status sooner if your contributions merit it.

Please could my posts be reviewed for elevation to Trusted Member status. I arrive on the 16th. and although I have been to Pattaya many times (as I hope my postings show) i'd still like to see what's behind the forbidden door before I arrive as I realise there's much more to Pattaya than I've experienced so far.

I think that is a reasonable policy. The bad news is that it means I will probably never get promoted. I doubt I'll ever get to go to Thailand and so won't be able to contribute anything more than thanks for the posts. Oh well, still a great board.

There is no auto-promotion to trusted member, so I guess we'll just have to wait in line. Just relax and do some posting and eventually we'll get bumped up. I am also very excited about the trusted members area and can't wait to have a peek inside
