I’ve used Nams to and from Sukhumvit but not the airport, as they are not official airport Taxis where do they pick you up from?

Driver will have a sign with your name on it and will be at the meeting point near Exit 3.

Nam or Chanya will email the details to you prior to your arrival.

It used to be the driver having a sign with your name waiting at exit three but in November it was not a driver, there was someone else there with a list of names placed on a pole, the driver was called and I had to wait a while until the driver was ready upstairs at departures dropoff.  Maybe an exception or the new practice?

That's what happens, the driver sits off and the greeter meets you and lets the driver know you are there.  then lets you know when to go out and wait for the car.

All fairly efficient.

Just came back to LOS with Nams last night. As usual Miss Yuri was there to greet me with her massive smile and the trip was swift, safe and incident free..

According to her website no it is still 1,000Baht, and a medium sedan at 1,100Baht but it is increasingly difficult to get a small sedan or medium at 1,100Bath as there seems to be very few drivers with small or medium sedans on her books and hence only large sedans at 1,200Baht or SUV;s at 1,400Baht.

I have not been able to get a small or medium sedan on my past 3 or 4 trips only the large sedan at 1,200Baht.

Ah right. That explains it. Thanks for your response

I remember her response a while back…and that was that they are only using large sedans for airport runs because they have the most space for luggage.  With so many cars using LP gas and having the gas tank take up most of the trunks, small cars don’t have much capacity.  I personally don’t mind paying 200 THB extra to ride in a roomier and more comfortable car after my 30 hour trip.

When I first started coming to Thailand a lot of taxis did indeed run LPG and as the picture shows, the tanks took valuable luggage space. Even Nam's first car, a Ford Escort had LPG. But in recent years there seems to have been a concerted move away from it, even in the UK so luggage space is not usually a big problem.

Sorry to be pedantic, but it was a Ford Focus.

My understanding is that initially they were popular because the fuel was cheaper then petrol. But one reason I have heard that they lost popularity was that the LPG caused heat problems that wore out the engines early. Rumor, but I'd be happy to accept a different opinion.

Nam was initially keen on the LPG option but never chose it when she replaced her first car.

I left to the airport from The Base at 5AM three weeks ago and have done the same a few times before... Taxi was always there, usually 15 minutes early. Don't worry, they will be there

I will add too, that an early pick-up is no problem, I have done it many times.  As a back up you also get details of the driver the night before including contact details.

I also understand that any early morning drivers have to let Nam know that they are "awake" and on the way to the job and again when they have picked-up the client!

I have commented recently about given the few number of drivers that have smaller cars it is now harder to get one.  When I booked for a trip weeks ago for yesterday, I was informed that no small cars were available, so I happily accepted the medium sedan.  When I got the email the night before, they had located a small car and confirmed 1,000baht!  So it seems they kept on record that I only required a small car and when one became available they switched to my original request.  Can't ask for better service than that.

As usual, driver was on time, smooth drive to the airport, couldn't ask for more!

I booked a car for 6am a couple of weeks ago and the smiling Yuri was at the front door at 5.45 so 5.30 will not be a problem.

Used nam.for the first time yesterday.

Normal i used meaw but last year i had to wake up the driver three times while driving.

So chosed nam this time. She is a bit more expensive (1200), but the driver was friendly, relaxed and drove very safe....

It's a bit strange. When I traveled with a small taxi in December, the driver (Tammy) was a bit sad because she got so few assignments because she had a small car.
