The thread should definitely live in glory or infamy depending on POV. Also, as AJ has pointed out, they were sort of forced to make a quick finish here, allegedly leading to cut some corners with shoddy solutions. I fully expect another round of fuckery after high season.

TBC.

How do you get enough speed going through that portion of the road to actually flip it...

They did.

I guess someone forgot to tell them or they didn't read the no parking sign, which in Thailand its only a suggestion.

Came down today from Udon for a few weeks of beach time. Started off by leaving for airport about 30 minutes earlier than necessary to catch a flight that was about an hour late. Block time was 1:30 due having to wait 5 minutes for Air Asia to land UTH and about another 8 or so minutes wait for gate at UTP. The good news, the flight had many more folks on board today than many of the previous flight we have taken. Before we left for Udon about a month ago, took this pic of construction.

and when we arrived today

not much progress so my thinking a two year project is a bit optimistic.

Wouldn't think the condos behind the hotel will be having a problem. Wife's condo at GA is 8th floor mid A building and we aren't experiencing much noise yet.

that looks about the same as it looked in early November. I had a deluxe king at the Amethyst looking straight down to this. Have deluxe room reservation for first week of March so I have some concern about morning noise, I would probably take the late night noise at the 247 hotel over any morning pounding here. I'm a late night type guy

I've been staying in Centara Avenue Residences since more than 7 weeks now and there was hammer noise during day time only about 6-7 days. Clearly to hear at the pool and less in the room on 8th floor

Took them 2 years to get around to fixing a problem which should have been fixed immediately.  However,  yes they did a good job.

Yeah but they're probably done properly and once only.

Australia must be quite different to the UK then  :)

Number of times I've seen a road dug up here, only a few months after the last time it was dug up is ridiculous

Mostly, on the West Coast  any way, the roads are pretty  good.

Folks make things and then things go wrong, as a mechanic over my lifetime made a bundle because of this. No complaints here.

Hello neighbour, I am building A level 6 and it's not too bad for me.

I am probably 4 units from the front of the building where the construction is going on and it has not bothered me at all.

I was shocked at how much work has been done walking past the site the other day.

Don't know if you were aware but one of the lifts caught fire last year in that building, I was the one that waddled at full speed to alert the security.

They looked at me like I was a mentally challenged person until they saw the smoke coming out of the building lol.

My lease is coming up in May and it's just so damn comfortable here and everything works and the location is about as perfect as possible I don't seem myself moving.

Maybe the only move I would consider is to the same condo but with a pool facing unit on the ground floor away from the construction but I pay 18K a month and the minimum I have seen a ground floor pool unit is 26k.

Not much difference but converting that difference to short time sessions, it's about 5.

We were in Udon at the time but a friend called wife and she was freaking til came down and she found no smoke or other problems in her unit and elevators were clean and functional. Like you, we can hear construction going on but not objectionable. Agree they keep on top of problems and IMO better than The Base. Much happier here than The Base but unit is nearly twice the size of her unit at The Base and is a factor.

I put off staying at the Amethyst for this trip as I was worried about construction noise from the new condo build. Now I am on the ground it looks like it probably wouldn't have been an issue. I now need to decide what to do for November. Do I risk the Amethyst or is construction, and noise, likely to have ramped up considerably by then. Decisions, decisions !
