16 players in college football made more this season than Purdy

From the Sporting News website:

"Purdy's current average annual salary works out to be $934,252.

In 2022, his rookie season, he made $724,252 in base salary. That went up to $870,000 for '23, and it will rise to $985,000 for '24."

From the NFL.com website:

"Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a restructured contract that pays the QB $210.6 million between 2023 and 2026, the most in history over a four-year span"

If the Forty Niners win the Super Bowl, obviously Purdy deserves to be paid elite QB money.

Tom Brady reportedly took a lesser salary to allow New England to sign better players.

How much money does a man need to have a wonderful life?

I would think about $50 million total should be enough for anyone.

But you never know.

Evander Holyfield earned over $230 million dollars in his boxing career. He basically lost it all.

Holyfield's net worth today: $1 million.

The pathetic ex-champ was so desperate for cash he ended up humiliating himself.

Sept. 12 2021 news headline from The Mail:

"Evander Holyfield, 58, is brutally floored in the first round by Vitor Belfort as 'disgraceful' comeback fight is slammed as 'one of the saddest events in boxing'... but he still wants to fight Mike Tyson"

Purdy might have made almost 2 million dollars since he got drafted, but once tax, agent fees, union dues, and cost of living in santa clara has been factored in, he is probably the poorest guy in the nfll.

he just signed a endorsement deal with toyota, that will probably give him a free car to drive and some much needed cash.

As for his next contract.  He cant sign an extension until after next season.  But if he plays like he did this year, it probably starts at 5 year 250 million with 200 million guaranteed at signing.

I was wondering what happens if Purdy has a serious injury before his contract extension.

Like with Bo Jackson, a career-ending injury can happen any time.

Purdy would lose like maybe a hundred million dollars!

I wonder if rookie NFL players with star potential have insurance for that awful possibility.

Kinda off-topic, but how about baseball player Wander Franco likely to lose out on his $182 million contract with the Tampa Bay Rays, after getting arrested for his stupidly reckless sexual fling with an underage girl.

If I was Franco, I would be near suicidal at the thought of losing that much money.

Franco's dream life as he knew it is over, as he likely will end up in a prison cell like Michael Vick.

I know baseball players contracts can be insured by the teams.  So I guess I can see how a Player not yet able to sign a large contract could insure themself against career ending injury.

Players can buy loss of value insurance.

but im guessing purdys insurance cost might be quite expensive and he might not br able to afford it.

So anyone going to attend the Super Bowl in Vegas?

Ticket prices currently range from about $5,000 to $35,000 per ticket. (USD)

If you want to rent a private box suite like Taylor Swift/Kelce family, prices range from $1.4 million to $2.5 million.

Even if you had Jeff Bezos money, would you go?

There's been several Super Bowl games that turned out boring, although that seems unlikely with this one.

According to Yahoo Finance, Jeff Bezos makes $1.4 million an hour, so even if he got the priciest skybox for the game, he would be money ahead before the end of the game.

My son works for a big casino concern in Vegas been there about 20 years he always told me when I was back there if I ever came back when the raiders were playing we could go see them play sit in the corporate box. I was back there last year and passed on it just not interested in the corporate box thing.

So a few days ago I got a line message from him. I guess it's the thought that counts but those corporate boxes where he's has access to all shirts and ties and sport coats and that shit don't fly with me even for the super bowl. And the fact I would have had to fly back on fairly short notice I hate Kansas City and I hate the 49ers so I'm not missing a thing

Isn't it funny how almost all these bars in town can give a rats ass about any American sports all year, but then all of a sudden they have a Super Bowl party.

Well that is not my experience in 6 years of living here!

There are a few spots to watch American sports during the season!

The Nest on Soi Diana shows American sports during the season...NFL, NBA, MLB, etc.

The same for Fraser's sports bar on Thappraya where me and friends watched NFL games all season. And yes they are showing the Super Bowl tomorrow same as last year....and like last year they'll have a all you can eat breakfast buffet at a good price.

Yes, I know. And you can add Danny's and Tigglebitties too. I'm just getting all these ads on my FB feed from bars that are focused on Brit and Aussie sports all year. I was really trying to make a joke, but I guess it didn't come off as such.

TBH, it doesn't matter to me either way, I'm going to watch the SB from the same spot I watch all the games, my sofa.

Well I've decided that my one bet that I'm going to place on the Super Bowl it's going to be one of the prop bets I'm betting Brock Purdy will rush for more than 13 and a half yards that's the over under number and I like him to exceed it. The bookmakers know what they're doing obviously but I think they got this one wrong time will tell

The inconvenient truth is that outside of U.S., no one gives a shit about American NFL football.

Just as Americans don't give a shit about soccer (weirdly called "football" by non-Americans).

Breaking news!

It looks like Taylor Swift will make it to the Super Bowl after all

Taylor Swift performing at the Tokyo Dome on Wednesday.

"Taylor Swift may have landed back in the States on Saturday, raising hopes that the global superstar will attend the Super Bowl on Sunday to watch her man.

On social media, fans of Swift and aviation journalists believe they've identified her private jet, labeled “The Football Era." It arrived from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport to Los Angeles' LAX airport moments after 3:30 p.m. local time . . ."

Go Chiefs!

Do not spoil for Swifties the most magical love story of all time!

part of why US sports aren't widely viewed here is - time difference.  That and our sports (baseball and football) have weird rules that are incomprehensible to anyone from the outside looking in.  😀

Again, I don't know a lot about it all, but didn't the Chiefs lose a few really good players this year, especially receivers (?) I am sure there was a couple of real stars missing this year, but they still got there, so that must say something :)

That is the salary cap at work. Once Mahomes moved off his rookie contract & signed his mega deal (worth it), that leaves less room under the salary cap to spend elsewhere. But if you have a generational talent like Mahomes, you can give up offensive talent & build up the defense which is what they've done & what the Patriots did before although Brady always signed team friendly deals. With that said ... what a throw by Mahomes just now & uh a fumble just minutes later.

Damn good game....lost money on prop bets and taking Niners -2, but a good game!

I DID win a prop bet I assumed I had lost -- took KC to have he longest FG at -111.  Assumed I was dead when Moody set an NFL record for longest FG, but Butker came back and beta that later in the game.

The real reason the Chiefs won:

Travis made unsuspecting Andy lose his balance and nearly stumble.

I was surprised by his disrespect to physically bump his head coach like that.

Doesn't look good for Travis.  Seems like maybe Travis is getting too arrogant from all the attention he's been attracting.

But it's human nature I guess. I myself have been arrogant when experiencing my rare and minor career successes.

I wonder how Reid will respond publicly.

Don't know if Reid will be critical of Travis for the sake of the team but the Chiefs or NFL should fine Travis $50k. IMO
