A surprise last night. 7pm I get an email telling me we’re going to Wembley after all :Number1a:

Each club were given a thousand more tickets as part of a ‘NHS Trial’, though as it uses the NHS App and that’s not available in Wales, all we have to do is scan a QR code on the way in.

Been busy since! hotel booked, parking booked, car checked and filled, most packing done.

Staying 2 nights near Reading to break the journey and avoid motorway services. First time I’ve been anywhere since March 2020.

Now let’s just hope the Swans win!

400 miles of driving, £600 of spending, a touch of sunstroke and we were completely shit.

Wrong formation, wrong tactics and we’d lost the game inside 20 minutes.

Long suffering doesn’t half cover it!

If Ayew had only got a firmer contact with his head at beginning of second half it could have put a different complexion on the game, all ifs and buts of course and a season is full of them, Brentford were quicker out of the traps and made it pay.

Brentford have serial bottlers when it come to the playoffs over the years, but unluckily for Swansea they got it right at the tenth time of asking, i will imagine you`ll be at least playoff contenders again next season.

As with many clubs, it’s difficult to assess our chances next season as there will be a number of changes. It comes down to who we can get in, probably on loan, to replace those we lose.

Woodman’s loan is up. Newcastle would probably sell him but whether it’s at a price we’d pay is anyone’s guess. Many Swans fans wouldn’t actually be too upset if he wasn’t there as he really splits opinions. Our other two keepers are probably not what we want as first choice though.

Guehi is definitely gone. Loan over and Chelsea will probably be looking to loan him to a Premier League club next season. Future England international in the making.

Hourihane’s loan is over. Villa might sell him but I can’t see us buying him.

Ayew has stuck around longer than anyone thought he would but it’s highly unlikely he’ll stay now. Think is contract is about up anyway.

Routledge injured his ACL in the semi and is unlikely to play again this year. His contract has ended so it’s unlikely he’ll be given another, even if he had wanted to continue.

We have a number of youngsters that have played occasionally, or been on the bench. It’s likely some of them will be given a chance next season.
We don’t have any ‘big’ players that we can sell for £10-20 million as we have the last couple of years so it’s likely the rest of the squad will stay. It’s not impossible that another Championship club will bid for one or two (eg Grimes) but hopefully we won’t lose any more.

I can’t see us spending much but we should be looking for a striker, and possibly a keeper. Probably looking at 3 or 4 loan signings to help the youngsters along.

Of course, there could be more significant changes if the rumour about Crystal Palace wanting Cooper as manager are true. Not sure where we’d go then!

Just thinking about the squad as it stands. Not counting 2 or 3 real youngsters that have been on the bench once or twice, we have a first team squad of 16.

GK: Benda, Hamer

RB: Naughton, Roberts

LB: Bidwell, Manning

CB: Bennett, Cabango, Latibeaudiere

M: Dhanda, Fulton, Grimes, Smith

F: Cullen, Lowe, Whittaker

Essential we make a few signings - whether loan, free or small fee.

Edit: I forgot about Jordon Garrick (winger) and George Byers (midfield) who are returning from loan spells, though the manager doesn’t seem too keen on them.

Could be our first signing is close - though one for the age group teams next season rather than first team:

Swansea City are in advanced talks with Wigan Athletic over a move to sign Kyle Joseph, WalesOnline understands.

The Swans are determined to bolster their forward options ahead of the 2021/22 season and identified Joseph as a transfer target.

Swansea monitored the 19-year-old's situation in January but are now bidding to make the youngster their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Joseph is out of contract this month but was offered fresh terms by the Latics.

Celtic, Rangers, Newcastle United, Preston North End and Sheffield United are among the clutch clubs understood to have shown an interest in the promising forward.

However, he appears destined to secure a move to south Wales on a free transfer in the near future after positive talks with the Swans.

Given that Joseph is under 24 years of age, the Swans would be required to pay Wigan a compensation fee - with that sum yet to be determined.

Swansea are set to lose Wayne Routledge and Andre Ayew this month - with the contracts of both players expiring on June 30.

It leaves them with Jamal Lowe, Morgan Whittaker and Liam Cullen as their main forward options ahead of what will be their fourth successive season in the Championship.

He was one of the gang that bought the club years ago. Jenkins, Morgan et al. Think he only had about a 5% stake though. They sold the club to Americans, lined their own pockets and left the club in debt.

Swansea City have agreed a fee of around £1m for PSV Eindhoven striker Joel Piroe.

Former Dutch Under-20s international Piroe, 21, scored three goals in 12 PSV appearances - only two of which were starts - in 2020-21.

He scored twice during a year-long loan at Sparta Rotterdam in the previous campaign.

Piroe is set to become Swansea's second attacking summer signing after they agreed a deal for Wigan's Kyle Joseph.

The fee for Piroe could rise to close to £2m, depending on how well he fares in Wales.

Two of Piroe's goals for PSV, who finished second in the Eredivisie last season, came in the Europa League.

He played 18 times - but started just twice - in the Dutch top flight for Sparta.

Swansea City have suffered a blow with defender Connor Roberts ruled out until at least September as he requires groin surgery.

Roberts, 25, limped off before half-time in Wales' Euro 2020 second-round 4-0 defeat to Denmark last Saturday.

The Denmark game was Roberts' 64th of the 2020-21 season.

Roberts is entering the final year of his contract with Swansea and has been reportedly attracting interest from Premier League sides including Burnley.

Swansea would not want to lose a prized asset on a free transfer, but news of Roberts' surgery could hamper the chances of him moving this summer.

Swansea City has completed the signing of Dutch striker Joel Piroe from PSV Eindhoven for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

The 21-year-old becomes Swansea’s second acquisition of the summer transfer window, with the club having already added Wigan striker Kyle Joseph to the first-team squad.

Holland Under-20 international Piroe joined PSV’s academy from Feyenoord in 2014 and has gained regular experience in the Eredivisie over the last two campaigns.

Swansea City has completed the signing of midfielder Liam Walsh on a free transfer, subject to international clearance.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at the Liberty Stadium, following his departure from Bristol City.

Walsh becomes the Swans’ third summer signing as he follows Kyle Joseph and Joel Piroe in making the switch to South Wales.

Swansea City has signed eight players to academy scholarships ahead of the upcoming season, as well as making additions to the club’s professional ranks.

Winger Kyrell Wilson, centre-back David Roberts, versatile defender Filip Lissah and left-back Zane Myers have all joined from Chelsea, while Richard Faakye (Crystal Palace), who can play in central roles in defence and midfield, centre midfielder Charlie Veevers (Manchester United), forward Kieran Petrie (Arsenal) and goalkeeper Ben Hughes (Chippenham Town) have also become Swans scholars.

Geoff Bony, Josh Carey, Joel Cotterill, Ben Lloyd, Jada Mawongo and Evan Watts are also making the step up as scholars having come through the academy ranks.

The new scholars will link up with the under-18s squad.

Swansea City can confirm that head coach Steve Cooper has decided to leave the club.

Cooper had 12 months remaining on the three-year deal he signed upon arriving at the Liberty Stadium in the summer of 2019.

Despite efforts by the club to enter dialogue with regards to a contract extension, it was subsequently agreed by both parties to mutually part ways ahead of the 2021-22 season.

Steve Cooper said: “I am very proud of what we have achieved over the past two seasons, especially getting to the play-off final, but it feels like a good time for all parties to make a change.

“It is a fantastic club, with incredible supporters and I am very grateful to them, to the players and all the staff for making me so welcome here. I wish the team every success for the future.”

We have owners who have not, and will not, invest a penny in the club and a Chief Executive who’s only interest is cutting costs, selling players and replacing them with the cheapest possible alternatives.

No decent manager would come near us unless they were desperate.

The club were all set to formally announce QPR Assistant Manager John Eustace as the new manager but he performed a last minute u-turn and turned the job down.

The club is now back to square one.

It looks likely that there will be more players leaving the club as 5 or 6 are now in the last year of their contracts. This includes club captain Matt Grimes who has attracted interest from a few clubs.
