Does anyone know if nam taxi or another service is ok with drinking (beer) and/or smoking weed (with windows open) on the journey to pattaya?

From their web site:

Pattaya – Ekkamai

DEPARTURE TIMES

04.30-21.00

We have bus depart every 1 hour

Bus fare 131 baht per seat

is it worth booking a day or two in advance to avoid turning up at the bus station and the bus is full?

Beer generally seems ok. But forget about smoking.

Apparently under one of those unique Thai laws it was and maybe still is illegal to drink alcohol in a car!  While it may not be one of the laws that is enforced (there are many), I think the risk to the driver is probably not worth it and so it maybe unlikely that many taxi drivers will allow a passenger to drink alcohol in a car.

Below is from an old Bangkok Post article, but if you do a Google search on "is it legal to drink alcohol on Thailand public transport" you get this.

I'm well aware. But have done it with several Nam taxi drivers.

It will totally depend on the individual driver, her decision. Smoking will be out for most if not all drivers, a beer maybe the luck of the draw.
Although I am sure if you ever had Nam as your driver, neither of them would have been possible....   🙂

Last time I was there I got a ride from Nam's Lady Drivers for 1000 baht. As they say, Nam's only hires lady drivers. I used them getting too, and from Pattaya. Email: [email protected]

I guess booking a Taxi will be the option. Should cost you about 800THB.

Phuket to Utapao would be a lot more than 800b on a taxi

Do the lady's offer to escort you all the way into your hotel room?

Then into the shower, and to the bed?

I've met one that made the offer.

Just curious if this is a thing..?

It may have been an individual driver who was in the mood or short of cash, but it certainly is not 'a thing', as in a regular feature.

I am afraid the previous poster's mysterious message has distracted me from what he was trying to convey. But maybe it conveys more then enough....

I've booked through siam-service.com (french-thai company) for years, never been disapointed. I have always found a driver waiting for me at the airport for my transfert to Pattaya even when my flight was delayed. Seems however that it is a a bit more expensive that other companies (2800 thb  for go and back).

In December, I'll need to go from Pattaya to Trat. What are my options?

Bus, fly to nearest domestic airport, train, private taxi, rental car. And combinations. By the way these are the same options for every destination in Thailand. Less train service in many places however.

Since there is no mention of time or monetary restrictions, add helicopter charter.

I suspect most people take the 4 hour bus for around 280B. Otherwise go to BKK and fly to Trat. Which seems like a lot of fuss.

I'd take a hired car.

Are you going to Trat city or one of the piers to catch a ferry to one of the islands?

For the city, Phet Prasert on Sukhumvit Rd between Pattaya Nua and Pattaya Klang has tour buses daily, but they leave before dawn, so you need to get a ticket in advance.

If going to one of the islands there’s minibus/van options, easily booked with one of the travel companies around town. You could also just hire a driver if you hate the minibuses as much as I do.

One of the piers to get a speedboat to one of the smaller islands. Could you recommend any trustworthy travel companies off the top of your head, just so I know I'm not gonna get scammed? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, can’t recommend anyone in particular. I think most of the ones around Pattaya are legit. Maybe do an online search or look at reviews.

Numoiy TAXI (you can find them on Line) just quoted 1400 bhat including tolls from DMK to my AirBnB in Pattaya.

Nam's no longer goes to DMK

She referred me to [email protected] who quoted 1800 DMK to Pattaya including tolls.

I will report back after i arrive this weekend if the 1400 rate w Numoiy TAXI was good.
