thanks striderman ,we gave colin our christmas tree and all our christmas decs when we left in march as we were not doing xmas in los any more.the bloody tight bugger as flogged them more likely than not.oh well our go at trying to brighten the place up for xmas fell flat.be having a cold one there on the 16th of next month.cheers.

Piehead i had a walk by today to scope the interior of Cheers and there no sign of red, a lone bauble, a green tree or even this grinch

xmas eve took me past both cheers and palmers.

no sign that colin in cheers had been reading a christmas carol by  dickens as the place is completely devoid of anything to remind you of that event.

not even any of these

meanwhile at palmers the old place is still in action as work continues opposite

Was called the viking beachcomber trading for at least the last 24 years, also closed due to increase in lease.

Yes, went in a couple of days ago.

Same menu, same prices, same good food and I recognised 2 of the staff.

Everywhere is very quiet so I cant say how the business is doing.

Bob,s old place opposite is still up for rent though.

In the beginning was the word and the word was "In" :ThumbUp6:

I go to Palmers Bar to get their 'Mince and Mash' takeaway. Very tasty.

Usually quiet when I go about 3.30pm. His old place is still empty.

Sex without love is an empty experience;

But as empty experiences go, it is one of the best.

I think the old Palmers will stay empty for awhile for 2 reasons

(1) In recent years there has been a increase in gay venues in Soi 13/3 & Soi 13/4.  And this will put of people renting it and reopening it as a girlie bar

(2) Anybody who does take it on will (I think) have to pay rent on the bar and the rooms above the bar.

Bob must be laughing his socks off seeing the old place across the road still empty 18 months after he moved out.

^^ Of course he would have stayed put, given the chance at least for another three years but the rent increase forced his hand. Also if the outside catering business was not doing so well,he would of left the business altogether,Think he`s quite happy with the move, still does ok with darts and quiz nights etc.Not sure how many rooms he has but at least one is full all year round ,as Willie from the Classroom is there,Was full when i asked in February this year.Wish him well.
