Thai air A380 from London

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

Just booked an extra trip to Pattaya for 19th August to 7th Sept then back again 3rd Oct

for 1 month.

For the extra trip have booked Thai Airways great price lowest of the 3 for just £527.99

and of course non-stop first time for years.

Have also reserved my seats on the new A380 layout. Could not believe the low price on

Thai as many other fares with 1 stop much more expensive roll on August.

It depends:

If the flight you take is full. You take the economy class and sit all the way in the back. The time to take you to go through immigration, customs and get your bags could be an hour or more. So, when your reach the taxi stand, it will be 7am to 7:30am. The time to the city is about 30 minutes to an hour depends on where you stay. So when you reach your hotel, it is about 7:30 to 8:30. If you are staying in a guest house, 2 or 3 star hotel and not allow you to check in early. You really have nothing to do but wait for your room for a few hours or you could leave your bags in the hotel and have a tour of the city.

If you are on first class, a golf cart will be waiting for you right at the gate. You do not need to walk. The staff in Thai Airways will take you to go through immigration via premium lane. Then another person will help you with your check in bags. You don't need to touch them. He will escort you through customs. He won't leave you until you get into your car or taxi. The total time will be less than 30 minute. If you are staying in a five star hotel in Sukhumvit area, you will be at your hotel around 7:00am. If you request a early check in and the hotel has room available, the hotel will check you in even at that hour. If the hotel is full but you book a club floor room, you could sit in the lounge to have a cup of coffee, read some newspaper. Some hotels will even offer a free breakfast if you are a return guest or premium member. The five star hotels will check you in at soon as they can. No need to wait till 2pm.

If you are going to Pattaya, early arrival is not an issue at all. You could take the bus, Bell bus or taxi. You will be in Pattaya around 9 to 10.

Just email the hotel and say you'll be arriving around 9am and ask what their policy is. If the Room is already unoccupied it wont matter anyway

Yes but being in Pattaya at 9 or 10am means you are tired & its a time when nothing really happens but still at least 4 hours before your room is available.

Not great IMO.

Thank you.

Good points.

Just push on & do things.

Eat & hit a few shops or even have a massage or a manicure.

Even just walk round & take some photos

Thanks for your help & post.

Le Telephone Bar opens at 9.30am. Pop round there for breakfast and some action until time to check in - job done!

You could just pay for an extra night so you could check in straight away.

I always do that on Check outs because normally my return flights are between

midnight and 3am.Nothing worse then Checking out at midday and waiting around

Not to worried if room is not ready on Check ins always plenty to do for me tired or not.

Yes good idea & for some reason did not think about that.

Thanks a lot.

At times we can all miss the obvious.

Yes this was the A380 a few years back from Germany Frankfurt to Bangkok.

1st July is the first A380 to fly direct with Thai Air London Heathrow to BKK Bangkok.

In the other words Thai Air gave the A380 to Germany, France & Japan before the UK.

Even worse IMO they gave up one flight per day direct London to Bangkok.

Also IMO a Airline that is half fucked & got more Thai finger in it than it needs.

Indeed but they have leased that landing slot I understand.  Should they want to take it back in the future if they get their act together they could obviously

Have done the Thai Air A380 BKK to Paris. I vastly prefer the old Thai 747s with their 34" legroom in coach. I don't need a fancy entertainment system. My tablet has it all.

Correct they have leased it to another Star Alliance member for 12 months.

They have the right or the option to take it back or release it.

Thai was the only airline to have 2 flights to Bangkok per day direct & some how fuck it up.

There is only BA & Eva that have direct flights from London Heathrow to Bangkok.

After the last few days I think many people will want a direct flight & have some worries & reservations about flying with Arab airlines & being on the ground at the stop over airports for hours.

During my days of flying to Bangkok from Europe I have flown with most of the Airlines, cheap tickets have been enjoyed over the years with Emirates, Qatar, & Etihad etc but for now I will not even think about flying with them.

To add insult to injury with my work I get one Business class per year free with Turkish airlines that I rate & enjoy there quality service, food & fantastic seats.

Any way lets see how things go & pan out.

Horrible times now with the extreme Muslims & the so called Isis etc.

Us fuckers flying & holidaying are fucking clear & present targets.

What's the issue flying with Qatar, Etihad and Emirates?  I'm flying with Qatar next month - you've got me worried.

Just booked a last minute flight for my Son next week, Thai airways came up the cheapest at £508 ..

Was shocked to see it's a Airbus A380 .

Always loved the 34 seats in the 747.

Have meds now so I can pop a few pills & sleep like a baby most of the time when flying for 12 hours.

The thing is with the 747's you could get close & lean in to the window, but with the A380 its far away from your economy seat.

Fabulous price & good for you as only 2 to 3 weeks later the prices are well over a grand.

Some days sold out.
