Roast Duck at Leng Kee Restaurant

Recommended Posts

I had a midnight supper of roast duck and steamed rice at Leng Kee Restaurant near the corner of Soi Bukhao and Pattaya Klang. Although Leng Kee has over 1,100 Thai and Chinese dishes listed on its menu, a medium order of roast duck at 200 baht was enough for me. The steamed rice was 10 baht and a SML was 60 baht.

It was served in a delicious sauce and came with pickled ginger, a few greens and a super spicy dipping sauce. One tiny drop of that sauce just about burned a hole in my tongue.

I've eaten at Leng Kee a number of times and the meals there have always been good. However, the other dishes, whether Chinese or Thai, haven't "wowwed" me. It's the duck that keeps me coming back. I consider it the best I've had in Pattaya at a modestly priced restaurant.

Besides the great duck, I like the fact Leng Kee is open 24 hours a day and is very clean. I also appreciate that many dishes come in three sizes (small, medium, large) at 80/200/350 or 400 baht. The service is prompt and correct, but the waiters can at times seem a bit surly. That's understandable, as I've witnessed some foreign tourists giving them a really hard time.

Bottom line: An excellent place to go for duck, good for other Chinese and Thai dishes.

Now who's going to be the first one to say you can get better duck at a cheaper price elsewhere?

My favourite dish and restaurant in pattaya. So many dishes, served in minutes, very busy for a reason. Thanks evil!

Yep

Eaten at the Leng Kee many times their duck dishes are up there with the MK restaurants duck dishes

Best I have eaten in Thailand

Good place for Chinese food

But for Thai food there are far better options in Patts

Well, I'll be the first to say I know better duck, though it isn't cheaper. I've gotten duck many times from Leng Kee as a take-away dish. Over the years it has declined in quality, though it is still worth an occasional visit. I'd say I go once a year nowadays, maybe less. It's about 170 baht for half a duck take away.

My favorite duck place is at the bottom of Tepprasit road, a few tens of meters from Tappraya road on the North side of the road. 250 baht for half a duck there, and the duck is much, much better to me, the way Leng Kee used to be. Another wonderful dish there is ba mii naam bpet, noodle soup with duck. Ba mii are wheat noodles, and this lady's wheat noodles are the best around---thinner than usual. It's 40 or 50 baht and one of the best deals in Patters--highly recommended. She also does duck fried with basil, pad grapao bpet.

It's open only until 3 or 4 pm, sometimes 5, but when her ducks are gone she closes up. They have moo daeng and moo grawp too, I'm pretty sure, but the star is the duck. Coincidentally, today I did a short time, and the girl said to me "I just had duck noodle soup, but it wasn't as good as the one you took me to."

Is this place a proper restaurant or a mobile unit?

Lengkee duck is very good, my favourite from this restaurant at the moment is the kaeng som! Good authentic Chinese Thai food like this can be difficult to find in central Pattaya as many farangs seem to prefer watered down versions of local cuisine when they are not eating pizza and burgers.

Indeed excellent for duck and very reasonable prices.

If my memory serves me well, they charge a small extra for sitting inside (with air conditioning).

Bami is the Indonesian word for noodles; bami goreng means fried noodles.

Despite the fact that I have been to Patters 4 times now, I have not been very adventurous in my eating habits. I have only ever gone to the food court in Pattaya Festival  Mall, or the  beer garden near Walking Street. Occasionally the odd nibble from the street vendors, but not nearly enough of the decent restaurants scattered around patts. I remember going to a wild west themed restaurant in was in LK Metro, cannot remember the name but the steak was ok but  onion rings were a bit soggy and not well fried. The best thing about the place was a large screen showing "ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WILD WEST" but like I said I will do a lot more exploring for culinary delights as well as carnal ones on my next visit.   :Fuck_Sheep:

Went here on my trip earlier this month. I was sitting in the room with my tialak and said lets go eat some duck. Right away she said Leng Kee ? I said yes and she got all excited about how it was the best. Went there and had a fantastic meal.

I've been to Leng Kee three times on my last two trips -- really enjoyed the quality and variety.

I usually have TOO many BGs in tow with me, but duck is always one of our dishes.  I also really like their crab with curry (and garlic, I think).

Taxi will be here to pick me up in LA in exactly one hour, but it'll be a few more days before I hit Pattaya (stop in Macau first).  Once I'm there, it's a safe bet that Leng Kee will be visited.

It's incredibly convenient to Mr. Jack's, and I gotta see about getting a watch for a friend....sounds like a great excuse to eat lunch there!

I've only been once and the food came out cold, the fried rice had a lingering rotten fish smell and the duck was all bone and no flesh.

So I have kept away ever since.

I must have got the chef after a big night on the piss or something, but I've read about a few BM's loving the place, so I'll check it out again next trip
