Hey Pat, you sure have a great "vib" goin' at the Rovers for all to see. I will be in town soon and will be sure to stop in...do you have any hard cider like Strongbow or other on offer? Also, Id love to tag along on a golf outing if you dont mind someone in tow that shoots about 110. Lemme know! Also, if you want to take a girl along just for laughs n giggles, do they charge you a green fee for her too? In the states, most do whether the girl plays or not...just curious.

I've been here once and had an OK time. I am curious as to how a guesthouse on LK Metro can charge ฿145 for a single mixed drink. I mean, that's more than I paid at Club Blu or any of the gogos on WS on the same night for the same drink.

I see from the other posts that I will be rehashing alot of the same.

 

Stayed only 4 nights in the Rover's as it was a quick trip, but have to admit that the place was excellent. The room was spacious, with mini-bar(which I raided severely), in room safe and great wi-fi. i will admit that the first step going up to the second floor took a portion of my cunning to negotiate after 20-30 beers.

 

Pat and Dom were both more than hospitable, and again I apologize Pat, for being out of commission on the golf day. The day I arrived Dom had a bar crawl to Ban Chang, so that was my initiation to Thailand. The girls looking after the Lobby and bar area were also great. Lots of smiles and great conversation.

 

Seeing as my last trip was so short, I have concluded I need a repeat so have re-booked back into the Rovers again at the end of this month and if all goes well will make this area my monthly long-weekend getaway down on LK Metro.

It was a heck of a day and good to meet ya.

 

I did drink 1 or 2 too many San Mig lights I think. that and the "no sleep in last 36 hours". So much so that I took the wrong girl back.

 

I thought I was taking back her,

 

 

And I woke up with her,

 

 

I do remember one of you guys telling me I had the wrong girl.

 

Oh well, worked out well. Hahaha.

Yep! The Rovers is the place to stay.

 

The rooms are fine by my standards, the bed is very comfy and the balcony is just like every other balcony on Soi LK Metro, too.

 

 

 

If the sun shines too bright you can hide in the shadows of the bar and enjoy some cider:

 

And they are girl and ladyboy friendly. I at least didn't have any trouble.

 

Speaking of friendliness: Nid managed too mess up my airport pickup and smashed a piece of cake in my face, but was cheerful and friendly all the time (like the rest of the girls).

 

Also there are parties from time to time, where anything can happen:

 

 

And there are also alcohol-enriched nights/mornings when Pat starts singing irish folk and the few remaining people join in:

 

 

I've enjoyed my three weeks at the Rovers. The Bar Crawls, the parties, the location, the setting, the hosts and their employees... Everything just the way it should be.

I remember the Darkside crawl in May too well. I think it must have been my third day at the Rovers. A small group of nice fellas... We started at a place called Butterfly Bar, got over a few drinks in other bars, stopped at the middle of nowhere (where also where three or four bars) and ended up in Dao Cafe... This was a great night out!

just got back from pattaya last week on behalf of my self and my mate captain marvel sorry i mean orby,i would like to thank pat and dom and all the staff for treating us like royalty while we were there.met some nice people who were staying thereand met fellow board menber bigone and his lovely wife,who i kept bumping into evertwhere i went,great lad pity about being a hammers fan but nobodys perfect,and lads just remenber i was,nt firing on all cylinders this time ,but i intend to be in full flight in oct,please give my regards to nuk shes on the back burner for oct ,thanks again lads see you soon.cinnamon.

I have just enjoyed a fine stay at this friendly and pleasing guest house from May 6th to 20th, a 15 night stay and was extremely content with the accomodation and facilities.

 

I chose this time to change from hotels to guest house style in LK Metro, my favourite locality, and stayed one week in Jasmine House on Soi Buakhow ( as Irish Rovers were booked until May 6th) and then two weeks here with Pat and and the team. All in all the venue is extremely welcoming both from the personal approach Pat and his partners and staff show you from the first moment right through to the informal bar/reception services. Cleaning was excellent and always done without any rush to 'get up for set times', and the room was always fresh and welcoming on return. Rooms are spacious indeed and very relaxing, though there is no lift so the stairs can keep you fit if nothing else does!

 

Lady guests found the rooms very pleasant with good comments although I always found the 'wet room' shower concept a bit hard to deal with being unfamiliar to me, and had to get some bathroom grip mats down as the tiled floor can be a bit suicidal when wet... but otherwise very good quality room, good air-con and my room (43) on top floor overlooked a fabulous green tree 'park' land space at the back which is totally undeveloped (probably as it has no access) and comprises an unofficial 'garden' view. I didn't eat there much except for the occasional breakfast which simply comes in one size - generous and at last 'real' western style bacon, none of that thai streaky ersatz stuff... the breakfast is very substantial and well presented. I gather there's a full menu probably anytime now as this was being designed for printing when I left.

 

The 'welcome' and sense of community fun is second to none, and although I didn't much join the nightly bar crowd there, being busy in town, there was always a welcoming atmosphere. Generally at Irish Rovers you are in the (comparitively) quiet end of LK Metro but when any of the bars gets going with a party (especially the loud ones like Liquid Lounge) there's some local noise but in Irish Rovers you are much more insulated than in other venues nearer Soi Buakhow or Soi Dianna. Location is excellent and the hotel has its own quiet parking area. Laundry is a few doors away and everything is within reach. I am a total 'non sports' person but if you like sporting events Pat is always on track with the latest events and there is a projection screen TV in the bar which emerges for every main fixture.

 

In my second day I lept straight into the famed bar crawls, and have to thank the tireless 'Fred' who acted as organiser for these, working very hard to make sure all had a great time. I did the Darkside one but thru chance (and getting a nasty cold in the last week) I missed out on the Ban Chang ones but.. next time. The crawls are highly recommended and a lot of fun.

 

I thoroughly rate Irish Rovers as a great value for money (700bt night) local friendly professional accomodation, with a highly personal management. As with other venues in this area Irish Rovers scores very highly against higher cost hotels, though the experience of a bar with guest rooms is different. Having experienced the difference in both price and friendly personal style I would have no hesitation in staying there again and would highly recommend. Whether you want a social group bar experience or to be left alone to come and go as you please this is a fine and comfortable venue to stay in a superb location. Good luck to them, well done Pat & and team on creating a fine and enjoyable place in Pattaya.

Many thanks for the review, we really appreciate it, and the time it took you to post same..We are very fortunate here at The Irish Rovers, to have Guests like yourself..It was a pleasure for us all Philip to be your hosts during your stay here..I think the difference between us, and large hotels is the personal touch we have with all our Guests..Many large hotels even though quiet nice lack this..Your very kind comments about us, will make us strive that little bit harder, to insure that our Guests are looked after as best we can..

 

You were always the perfect Gentleman Philip, and you will always receive a very special welcome here at The Irish Rovers..Hopefully you can join us on the 'Banchang' bar-crawl then.(LOL)

I cant imagine you wanting to get a taxi back on your own, from Banchang or any other bar-crawl (LOL). You have always been very helpful to all the other lads, especially the newbies, and to myself as well..Fred is back now Gerry, and will be here for at least 6 months, he is spearheading things now in your absense, not as good as you, but has to be second best.

 

I hope and trust your keeping well Gerry, we are going to the Darkside on saturday, will have a drink or 2 on you my friend, will hold onto the 'DRINK BIN' for you.(LOL)
