One of the best nights I've had was with group of Russians on soi 7 about 5 years ago

they are no different than any of us,yes they may sometimes look a bit aggresive but that's

the way their society makes them.

When I go to ko lahn I make my way to nuel because I prefer to be with Russians than the Koreans

and Chinese.

Like everyone knows there is good and bad everywhere but on the whole once you get talking

I find the Russians to be better than most.

Yeah, seriously. With that kind of history, most of us would be looking at unknown elements in a suspicious way too. (I think agressive is the wrong word here.)

Get over that barrier with our Russian friends and it's party central, though.

I guess Russians must understand that personally it's so  easy to  be friendly. Relations between countries may be different but personal communication not the same things. I prefer to think that all Thai people and farang people can be good friends for me

One of my best mates Russian here in Japan. I was very skeptical of him at first but he's proved himself to be a very good friend in the last five years.

 

I've had a few instances of rudeness in Pattaya by Russian visitors. I've also had some good experiences there as well.

Let's face it.The Russians are a breed apart.Have you noticed that despite the fact they are more of them BY FAR than any other nationalities

now they are completely absent on PA? They think their androgynous looking women are the best  and they think they are too cool to pay for

it.  I agree that most seem to be low class.I have never had one do anything to me but they still manage to irritate me.If I've seen one

Here in Nha Trang, Vietnam the tourists are 95% Russian and 5% other. Menus are in Russian before English in a lot of places. I've never had any problems with them... But they do walk around scowling all the time. Also, they bark at the Vietnamese people at restaurants. MENU! BEER!

 

They have built their own tourist infrastructure here. Russian tour guides, Russian clubs, Russian restaurants. They remind me of the Thais in many ways... No real interest in dealing with outsiders.

 

 

Not many speak English but I have had a few conversations with ones who do. They seem friendly enough. I was offered some vodka from a Russian expat and we started chatting for a while.

 

One funny observation... I am American. Whenever I tell them that, they put their hands up and say, "That's OK today we can be friends."  Haha, interesting to read that USA=Satan to most Russians.

I was sitting in Aom bar, corner of Soi 5 on second road one night at around 2am, and this random drunk Russian dude sits next to me and starts hassling me over Obama lol, I tried explaining that I wasn't American but European and from Ireland but he didn't care, we're all the same apparently, the big bad West.. and we're all zombies 555 brainwashed from our corrupt media. You should have seen his face when I compared Russians aggression in the Ukraine & Crimea to Hitlers aggression in WW2, he was dumbfounded and seemed to be genuinely hurt at the comparison. Anyways we argued for around 20 minutes and I got sick of him and just started blanking him, he turned his attention to some of the girls, he rang the bell and bought a few LD's and then refused to pay the bill lol, he was also just being aggressive and shouting loudly in Russian at them, then when it started to get a little heated someone called him a motorbike taxi so he could gtfo before he got glassed and he started arguing with the taxi dude over the fare lol, looking back now it's probably one of the highlights of my trip, I do wonder though if he made it back home alive...

I regularly walk around Central Pattaya at a brisk pace.  As I approach, the Russians always politely move to the side to let me pass.  The men often signal to their female partners to do the same.  Many times, other nationalities are not as accommodating whether I am walking by myself or with my Thai partner.

 

 

P.S. I love the young girls showing the 'camel toes'  .
