Post your deals here guys.

Here is the latest I found from Scoot (offshoot of Singapore Airlines) budget carrier which flies out from Sydney and Gold Coast.

If you find some great deals from elsewhere including Melbourne and Perth please help out other BM's.

Good find. Unfortunately for me I've already booked Scoot for Jan to Singapore, I think I paid about $40/50 more.

Be careful with flights to Bangkok, if all on Scoot there may be a significant stopover in Singapore like14 hours or something.

As far as I am aware, there is a 2 hour stop over on the way there in Changi, but on the way back there is a 23 hr stop over (flight time with scoot from bkk to Oz 33hr).. best to get a one way flight back with air asia from don muang to Changi and then a one way back from Changi with scoot. They kind of suck you in that way (I guess it is due to scheduling and time slots) but if you are willing to fuck around and plan, you can get the return flight for about half of Thai Airways direct flight.

Is that from Sydney?.. not a bad deal.

I must say I was very impressed wth Scoot. A budget airline but staff were brilliant. All young Singaporeans and really polite, friendly, helpful ad professional. 100% on the mainly Thai staff on Air Asia

Found $523 return but that killed it for me. Plus I'm in Melb so gotta add another $200 or so.

I still occasionally find Air Asia for $500 from Melb but they are getting rare (stopover of 2-3 hours).

I'm prepared to wait for the big specials from the full service carriers such as Emirates Thai and Malaysian and pay an extra $200-$300 to get a fare for around $750. Gotta book early though so need to be flexible.

Yeah I prefer to fly full service direct with thai and pay the extra too. But don't forget with scoot you've got to add in meals and baggage ($30 baggage each way).

On return fly from BKK (Don Muang) with airasia to SIN and then scoot from SIN back to oz. Works out around $600 or under. But don't forget to add in baggage (if needed) and beers and meals at Changi while you are waiting. All this pplus the extra time adds up to around $700. Roughly about 14hrs travel time each way.

Thai direct is only 9 hrs, full service and you can get flights for around $900 return. Sometimes worth the extra. Scoot is very tempting though and I've heard some very good reports about them from various people.

Just booked for March flying Thai for $875 from Melbourne. Anything under $900 with Thai and I'm happy. Never any problems/delays with Thai, nearly always delays with low cost carriers.

I completely agree with you.

Compared to Jetstar there is no comparison.

Flyscoot is MILES ahead.

I book my flight again with them for my April trip to Thailand.

It was $530 return.

Emirates had a sale recently also...my mates got their direct tickets for $890 for April.

More competition is good competition.

Air Asia, were cheap, got expensive but some good promotional prices

Jetstar, pretty good for all the trips I've done.

Royal Jordanian have had some pretty good prices for a full service airline

Scoot looks interesting, need to improve their connections

Thai - still worth a look sometimes, esp if travelling with kids that get the 25% off

Having done most of the connections, a direct flight is best. Lots of good flexible options now.

It's been the other way around for me on my 2 journeys with Scoot from Sydney.

22Hour layover in Singapore on the way there and only a few hours on the way back.

The layover is fine with me.

I book a $60 room in the red light district of Singapore (Geylang) and have some fun there the night.

Maybe hit a few bars or maybe even the casino.

On the way back the wait if 3 hours I think but seriously Changi Airport is an amazing place with a cinema, play station gaming area, and much much more.

You will not be bored there.

I fly from the Gold Coast as well, Ive done 2 trips with scoot now (with a 3rd already booked), both times they had a 22hr stopover in SIN on the return trip. I cut my booking up, only book a return from SIN to OOL, & get a cheap air asia from BKK to SIN on the same day with a 2 hr connecting stop, works well ;)

Yeah, that's the only way I could figure doing it too. Tiger airways doesn't match up as well.

www.kayak.com and www.skyscanner.com are 2 sites worth using....then go direct to the airline's own website...that way you get the best price AND you can choose your exact seat, meal requirements, ect!

Check seats out on www.seatguru.com first though. Cheers

I've had some amazing prices MEL-BKK-MEL like $200 return with Air Asia, and $35 each way with Jetstar on startups. I think if you can get a return for around 700-800 its pretty good. A direct flight is always best as any connections double the chance of flight fuckups and it can be shitty stuck at airports - touch wood I aint had that problem yet. Direct especially on the way home - so you can sleep without the hassle of plane changes.

And, you need to consider if you are up for say another half-day rate or a full night and other add on expenses.

But the flexibility is getting way way better..... I like it a lot.

Scoot from Sydney to Singapore for 340 plus another $77 for an airasia connection to Bangkok which is a most excellent price for high season.

Am writing this from terminal 1 waiting for the BKK connection.

The Scoot deal to BKK included a 22 hour stopover in Singapore which was unacceptable.

Got a good deal from Virgin in June flying Sydney to Phuket for about $380 so the deals are there if you look and are flexible.

Brunei seems like a good deal now they have sorted the stopovers. Two years ago they were 5 or 6 hours each and boring as hell. No grog on the plane but it was fine.

Jetstar seem to have stopped their super deals to Bkk the last 6 months or so which his a bummer.

Thai airways is over 1000 for easter now but I got one for around 800 couple of months back.

in terms of flight search site on the net, you cant find a better one than Momondo - i worked in the travel industry for years, tried and compared all the sites many times for different routes and Momondo was the cheapest every single time! for international flights out of Australia, NEVER use Webjet - its great for domestic fares but is really very average for international ones.

I agree, their stopovers sucked but now are more tolerable.

Often on a par with Air Asia and Jetstar for price out of Melb.

Good service, cabin crew and planes (leased from Singapore Airlines actually).

Oh, and you can drink on the plane no problem...just need to purchase your own duty free and they will provide the mixes...if required.

Cheers.

If I learn nothing else today I won't care. Great advice Big. Was reticent about using them but now worth a shot.

As much as I love all things Australian, I got to get me action of the asian persuasian.
