Billabong Hotel

They are pretty much the same thing. A hotel has a different licence and is generally open 24/7 whereas a guesthouse usually doesn't.

I have enquired about a room there several times.

Never even got a reply, so I don't bother now.

how did you contact them? If you go through the contact page on their website you will get an automatic response mail within 24h. I've then always had a personal reply within a day after that. Every time (incl. very recently). Maybe a wrong email address?

Well I enquired about a booking about a month ago through their website. Got an automated response within 15 minutes informing me that they had, and were dealing with my email. The next day I had a personal reply answering my query. I had no problems.

check out there website all prices of rooms/photos www.billabong.com

Imo opinion its one of the better hotels/guest houses in soi LK , as for bars you be smack in the center of it all you be surrounded by soi buakao, soi Diana were there are 100s of bars . Try Pook Swan Bar out on soi Buakao cheap beer / bar fines and free pool and the ladys are friendly . From soi LK just a short walk down soi Diana and your on 2nd road and more bars were you can catch baht bus to Beach rd and walking st.

Pook bar? Friendly ladies? 555

Billabong is a great place to stay. Stayed there for almost a week in august and got a huge room for 700 baht a night. Greg the owner is a good guy and you also get a discount on drinks if you're staying there. Has some cute ladies also working the bar. If you're looking for a great place to stay then you can't go wrong in the Billabong.

Hello Xdrt33

What email address did you use? I have not received anything in the last year that we havn't replied to as far as I know. I tried to look up your email or name on the forum but they were not available. I am sorry you were disappointed as we try to reply within 24 hours when possible. We have had the internet out for the last 3 days so I am catching up now.

By the way our url is http://www.billabonghotel.com for those who want to have a look.

Cheers

what are the showers like at the billabong ?

big enough for 2+ ?

The showers are the open room variety with the water heater thingy on the wall. Probably room for yourself and 3 girls if you are so inclined. The water pressure was really good making the shower just fine. A good shower is key when you are taking 4 a day!

Stayed here a couple of times and it's a cracking little place that I highly recommend.

Good prices, friendly staff, free wifi, nice rooms and great location.

Things to watch out for. There is no lift and the stairs are steep. So it's a bit of a trek if you are in a high room.

Also there does tend to be a lot of noise from the soi some evenings. To be honest this is a positive for me because it means you are on a rocking party soi and I'm either out or when I am in the room I am not a light sleeper and quite enjoy drifting off to the party sounds outside.

One funny incident here was the cleaning lady must have forget to replace the soap in the shower when it ran out. I went to reception to ask for more. This involved making showering gestures to explain that I needed soap. Instead of giving me a replacement bar they directed me to the nearby familymart to buy my own. Don't know if they misunderstood me or if they just didn't want to give out an 'extra' bar ... but it was funny. One of those quirky things that happen in a little guesthouse as opposed to a big hotel.

OK - I just worked out what's happening.

Last week I sent emails to 4 hotels, and got only 1 reply.

This was the one which did NOT use a pop-up email window.

i.e. my email was sent using my ISP email box, in the usual way.

So I tried sending a 2nd email to Billabong like this - and got the auroreply immediately.

So the pop-up email window is not working - at least for me.

Surely I'm not the only person with this problem, who think that emails are being ignored.

It must be costing some hotels quite a lot of business.

Maybe worth thinking about mods to contact pages??

The soap thing happened to me also while staying in the Billabong (those tiny bars covered in paper) but I think the fact that it's a guesthouse and not a hotel means you have to buy your own soap, so no complaints from me on such a trivial matter. I got a great discount on the taxi to the airport when leaving so all in all I can recommend Billabong highly.

The missus read the emails and thought she would answer. Sorry about the purrrrrfeckt Inglese. Will fix the soap thing & may even throw in some shampoo. (Well maybe some dishwashing detergent in small shampoo containers that I have been saving for years from decent hotels).

Beer is still cold!

Cheers

Reminds me of that old joke:

Teacher: Can anyone give me a sentence with the word 'judicious' in it?

Pupil (sings) : I can 'for hands that judicious can feel soft as your face with Mild Green Fairy Liquid'.

Never had any problems with emails going to my hotmail account from Billabong, emailed other day for a quote for nearly three weeks in April, just over £200 so when payday comes it's getting booked. Just have to work out a disguise so don't get jumped by Porn or Yen straight away lol
