Prices are very reasonable but the last time I ate there the service was atrocious.

Same same. It took about 15 minutes to wave a girl down to get a new drink then she would run off after getting the first person's order without asking anyone else if they needed anything... I like the place but they really need to improve the service there.

For Thai food I like the food stalls and small restaurants in Soi Postoffice (Soi 13/2)!

My personal faves are - for thai food:

Hole in Wall

Nuch's

Pattaya Beer Garden (slightly more pricey but really good portions)

street carts for noodle soup. Also late at night for chicken noodle soup the small restraunt opposite the tree on Walking Street - 30 baht last time i was there.

The thai restraunt next to Fuji in Big C (can never remember its name).

In addition I like Oishi for its set menu (99 baht for noodle dish, pork dumplings and large lemon drink) and its competitor No 8 Harshiban for their noodle soups all 50 - 90 baht. I also really like the Hanoi soup (beef and onion)at the Saigon bistro in Central (and so did my friends from my last trip to Patts) - however the rest of the menu is hit and miss.

Best value I found is Boat Restaurant on 2nd road. A big step up from food stalls, OK people watching from the front booths. Great Thai dishes most under 42 baht, good European meat dishes under 90 baht, spagetti and meat sauce 42 baht and good ice cream shakes and desserts around 30 baht. They advertise a 50 baht breakfast. A few of the waiters can be a pain in the arse.

Pattaya Second Road is very long. Where is this Boat restaurant?

Place often referred to as "hole in the wall" on Soi Bukhaow opposite pink karaoke building (not far from LK Metro), Nusch food at top of Soi Chaiyapoon/Xzyte (I think) Soi Bukhaow end also, both places cheap and lovely meals, although larger portions at the Hole in the Wall place.

I've also been told that there are good meals to be had at the place opposite Pook Swan House on Bukhaow, but havn't eaten there myself. .

Best places really though are street carts for real cheap and fresh food - just send your "TG du jour" off with afew baht and she'll return with a banquet!!!

that hole in the wall is amazing greatest cheapest food you will find.I WAS PAYING 40 BAHT FOR CHILLI BEEF AND BOILED RICE EACH DAY and he food was amazing.

That all for 99 got quite bad reviews. Be careful. Price is at least 129 Baht as at least one drink is mandatory and extra charged.

Do not forget about 7/11. Open 24h. A sandwich for 20 Baht or a hot dog are not that bad in price.

nearly forgot the cheapest place: Look for bars celebrating something. They usually offer free food.

Not exactly cheap, but not expensive either is Robin's Nest 149 baht buffet breakfast. Avbl from 7.00am to 1.00pm, the quality and variety of what's on offer puts all the 100 baht brekkkies to shame.

Starting with cereals, moving thru a vast selection of items for your main feast, right down to mushrooms and black pudding for those always craving such, and finishing with fruit, it's easy to eat enuf to last the day on. Throw in the fact that it's got free newspapers to read and you're onto a winner.

I've often spent a few lazy hours there and came away each time very satisfied.

Pussy is sweet,

but so is honey.

So beat your meat,

and save your money.

If you stick with the street vendors who sell thai food you'll be fine! Cheap, delicious and healthy!

Another great one is Schnitzel Hans, left side of drinking street 2nd road, with 119Baht for a superlarge schnitzel with fries!

I'm looking for cheap food places in Pattaya, I've been eating at Kiss, Apex, Pattaya beer garden, any other suggestions for places which have good value or cheap food.

When you're walking down Beach Road, into Walking Street, immediately after passing the Walking Street sign, on the right, there is a 'hole in the wall' place you step down to enter. It doesn't look like much walking by it, but it turned into one of my favorite places to eat when I was near Walking Street. I have no idea what the actual name of it is.

IMO, the Som Tam there was wonderful. During my three weeks in Pattaya, the only Western food I ate was the hotel breakfast, all the rest was Thai food from one venue or another. Now that I'm home, the nearest place for Thai food is a 5 hour drive away. I certainly do miss Thailand.
