Some have full balconies, but the standard rooms only have those smallish half balcony things you can't actually go out and sit on.

Thanks have a deluxe king booked so should be fine as they seem to have decent balconies

Actually no, a lot of their deluxe king rooms do not have balconies and even higher priced rooms.

It's a nice hotel but hit and miss with what you get in terms of view. Some rooms have a tiny balcony you can only stand on and even worse directly facing the building next door (so you literally look right into the outdoor hallway of the next building and vice versa). Had to keep the curtains closed for my entire stay in that room.

I would ask them if the room you booked has 'city view' as these rooms look out into Soi Buakow and even if you only have the small balcony at least you don't look straight into a wall of another building.

Thanks for the help time for an email to the hotel I think.A balcony is necessary as a smoker even to chill with kindle and drink before heading out

I have accordingly to my booking email a Superior Double City View does that mean I won't have a balcony ?

To be clear, discussions about Amethyst should probably go in an Amethyst thread.  People are probably going to get confused thinking people were referencing Blackwoods.

I believe Superior Double's only have the small balcony, which is further confused by the fact that in Thailand they tend to call them terraces.  There is a good amount of variation in Blackwoods depending on where the room is located in the building, even within the same class type.  If it's important to you to have a specific type, I'd call directly and ask them.  Call them, don't e-mail, their e-mail response time is usually horrible.

  • 1 month later...

I had the standing room only balcony, facing onto Soi 7. I was on one of the highest floors so only a little noise from the bars.

the hotel was OK but I thought it lacked something. Though I had been in the Areca Lodge before having to switch hotels so maybe it was me comparing the 2 hotels
