Got a Christmas related question:

Last year I went Dicey Reilly's and their cranberry sauce was just a little thicker than water. In the US the cranberry sauce is jellied. So which countries serve their cranberry sauce thin like that? Or is US the only place that serves it jellied?

I wouldn’t expect fresh cranberry sauce to be jellied though it should be fairly thick. Jars of cranberry sauce from a supermarket would likely to be jellied.

Fellow BM's who were looking forward to their Crimbo scoff reported it as they were disappointed; I understand the part about the Wagyu beef not being available as it was a popular choice but pre-orders could have avoided that shortfall. The fellas did say they were offered complimentary drinks which was a nice gesture but their patience was thin by that time.

I mentioned it with no intention to tarnish but to highlight an occurrence which could happen; we had a great Xmas meal at Steak 'n Co yet the following year it was less than satisfactory; reputational damage tends to linger and the choice of venue is usually based on that. Your intention to have your customers pre-select their choice is sound.

More menu's please! 😉

Sorry I didn't mean to ignore your reply.  Only just realised I had a reply after the forum came back up 555.  Fully accept we dropped a bollock and hope we make amends for that this year.  In any case, have a wonderful festive season wherever you may be and hope to catch you at some point for a wee dram

Cheers,  Robert

Nae worries; I have met ye before in Runway.

I have to say your Xmas menu is probably the most appealing so far. The Thai Option is the clincher. 😉

You're here now where you should have been all along.

In case anyone might be scared off by "gravel salmon" and "rotten paste," or left mystified by "garlic shakes" and "carrot box,"  I'll try to correct the translation mistakes.  I based my corrections on the years I lived in Nordic countries, including two with a Finnish girlfriend.

Ham, Duck breast, Smoked salmon, Gravlax (salmon cold cured with a rub of salt, sugar and dill), Herring, Garlic herring, Lemon herring, Boiled egg half and fish roe paste. Cold cuts, Rosolli (root vegetable salad with beets, carrots, potatoes and onion), Potato casserole, Carrot casserole,
Liver casserole, Mushroom salad, Sautéed cucumber, Beetroot, Boiled potatoes, Steamed roots, Rye bread, Karelian pie and egg butter*, Cheese tray.
Coffee and pastries , sweets

*This is an iconic Finnish dish, small pies with crispy rye crusts, filled with a rice mixture and topped with mashed boiled eggs in whipped butter.

A traditional Finnish Christmas dinner is light years from its Anglo-American counterpart, but it's very good and worth a try by adventurous eaters.
