From the OP

"recently read elsewhere that if you pay under 300 baht for a Western meal in Pattaya, you get garbage. I consider that statement both unfair and uninformed..."

Great looking pad Thai, though :)

Personally in my experience most of the really cheap restaurants serving western food in pattaya are serving low quality western food and normally small portions to keep the cost down .But there are plenty of restaurants in Pattaya selling decent western food  where you can get a good meal for 200 Baht

Horrors! Someone put pineapple on ham! Next thing you know they'll be putting mango on rice.

Had this yesterday, one of the best mac and cheese I've had, portion was so big I had to get the waitress to put what I couldn't eat in a container to take home.

Damn and blast! That looks tasty. Is it on the menu or one of those secret society things?

Don't know if it's actually on the menu, I saw it on their Facebook page. I normally decide what I want from RH from their Facebook, because a lot of their dishes aren't printed on their menu for some reason. But they do put a lot of effort in regularly updating their Facebook.

Absolute bargain indeed. And there's some other promising items on that menu. German style stuff. Thanks for the tip!

Had this yesterday at the Rock Factory, very tasty pork tenderloin goulash, if I didn't know it was pork, I would have sworn it was beef, was delicious, and tasted authentic.

Absolute bargain for 149 bhat.

BTW they also have probably the cheapest Thai chicken fried rice I've found in a restaurant/bar at 59 baht.

Yeh , recently menu has changed and prices have gone up, I wouldn’t recommend it any more.

Well, you are sure not going to find a good steak under 300 baht in Pattaya and meals under 300 baht are the focus of this thread.   :D

But to be more helpful- there was a relatively recent discussion of steak in Pattaya in this thread: Best steak(house) around town?   A post by BM ChiFlyer had an excellent summary of what's available. The Restaurants, Cafe's, Take Aways & Nightlife Venues  section also has discussions of places which offer steak.

And for some inspiration-  How about this for dinner?

Buondi Itallia (or Buondi Italia Da Noong), 391/72 Thappraya Rd.
A family restaurant, offering (few thai and) italian recipes. No italians inside, only two thai madams (and some babies playing on the floor).

Never spent more than 300THB and never exit disappointed or still hungry :-P

Usually I prefer to stay outside, on small tables, because don't like too much the kitchen smell inside. For this reason, during my first visit I was very not very confident. But I had to change my mind and returned many times.

There was discussions earlier about Chill Inn and Jolly's got mentioned also.  Near lunch and I am staying very near and wandered down to take a look.  Jolly's was a bigger size and that's the reason I tried it first.

Could not remember the last time I had a Cordon Bleau and at 285B, thought why not.  The meal was quite large and I will probably only have a couple of spring rolls tonight, if anything.

Here's the pics:

Cheap Charlie's recently opened a second location in Jomtien.

Located on Jomtien Soi 5, 40 meters inland from Jomtien Beach Road.

Cheap Charlie's in Jomtien has a 4.3 out of 5 star rating on Google Maps:

Kungs The Burger 185฿

Not a traditional burger, it has homemade hash browns instead of a bread bun.

High quality ingredients, cooked well.

Very filling and tasty, highly recommended.
