can someone translate this word ?

I have heard people use the letter E before a girls name and I know it is not good but what does it actually mean

Its like saying "f!@#$%g" example "I don't like that f!@#$%g Paris Hilton" would be "chan mai chawp ee Paris Hilton"

"E" is used for girls where "Ai" is used for guys

Trick

 

Just from listening I've always thought the word for trick/tricked was มุข/mook. Earlier I used it in thai (เขามุขผม) and was told it wasn't correct, and we couldn't work out what the correct word would be, and after checking there are lots words like "trick" which can have quite a few meanings, like cheat, deceive, swindle, fool etc.

 

I just basically want to say "you tricked/trick me", where "trick" is used in a light/fun way.

 

หลอก และ เล่ห์กล were the other two words that I found.

I generally use ถ้า for if, but see หาก used quite a lot in songs, is there a big difference in usage?

also the title of the song on utube may have confirmed what has had me scratching my head before.

 

that sometimes we hear ดี (dee) when they really mean ได้ (dai) ?

 

so ได้ยินมั้ย may actually sound like ดียินมั้ย sometimes ?

อ่อ very good na. วันว่าสู่คน what's that mean? something day i guess.

 

I have to listen very close to catch the ได้ยิน but it is there and makes a lot more sense.

 

I think saying ได้ like ดี/ดิ in the sentence just makes it less formal, perhaps the same way english people would say 'dunno' instead of 'do not know/don't know'. I often noticed that thai's said ไม่เอา the sound was a lot more like มิเอา.

 

Or.. perhaps my hearing is completely knackered.

the ได้ sometimes sounds like ดี stuff would make a good thread.

Some girls say "man kiaow" to me from time to time. It sounds like it's something positive, but I can't be sure.. (It's like they say it to me as if I was their little baby..) What would it mean?

I saw this in a book or some website and apparently it's a really popular word that lots of foreigners know and use to express their limited thai ability... how have I missed this word? When I first read it I thought it was going to be a semi-deep thai idiom haha.

Probably because its not popular. So basically saying "snake snake fish fish" is somehow used to express limited Thai ability. Doesn't sound right to me but I've got a reading lesson tomorrow so will check with my teacher.

 

Checked this with my teacher today and doesn't mean anything more than what I mentioned yesterday

i believe the correct word for busy is yung with a middle tone... actually yuung for english readers.. whenever im at work or my girlfriend is at work or we are doing something around the house we use yuung... kuhn yung mai? mai yuung khrap.

 

are you busy? no im not busy... waang i think is for time in the essence mee weh-la waang bahng mai??? do you have some free time.. at least thats they way we use it.. just for reference my girlfriend is from bangkok and speaks central thai and is a university grad.. and always speaks polite and very proper thai... not pattaya thai/issan bar girl thai.. i learned some bad speaking habits that i had to drop quickly because she will ask, where did you learn that? and i said "around.." lol
