Pretty harsh- criticizing a guy for what's on the TV? I have not lived in the US for years so I love watching Fox while eating my Pulled Pork at Bob's. It's like professional wrestling, so mind numbingly awful it's entertaining. I guess for people who actually have to live there it has no novelty and can grate a bit. Can't imagine anyone having a problem with you changing the channel, TV just seems a very petty criticism of a restaurant.

 

That being said I'd like to see corn bread (like a proper brick cut from a pan, not one of those little doofy muffins) and macaroni and cheese (not instant) make it on the menu.

I have seen it all now. lol, just joking ..last time I tried to fly from Japan to NY the US immigration looked at my passport and it said 'issued in Houston' and then they asked me if i had a visa for NY since you are from Texas. I said 'No' and they said OK this time but you must hire an interpreter for your first week here.

I thought the food was fine there. But every time I went in there, I had to send my order back because the workers got it wrong. Not knocking the place at all, I'm sure it's just an issue with the Thai-English language barrier, but the food is great. Try the Baked Potato's

Look Fox news is about the only thing in Thailand where you can get any news of happenings in the US. I don't get in to political discussions and in fact if I had voted it would have been Democrat. I don't like Fox news and in fact a lot of the things I hate, but it is still the best source of US news. If the TV or anything else bothers you be a Texan open your mouth and say something. You will be amazed at what can happen. I'm more than happy to change the channel or even turn off the TV for a guest. The bottom line is you can't please everyone all the time. If it was Soccer on the TV then people would complain etc. Customer is King so whatever he want I will try to accommodate.

 

uhhh - bbc news is like 60% about the US. As is al jazeera. Is there something wrong with those channels? Classing fox news as a real news channel is kind of a stretch.

In the end it really doesn't matter. It's not about the TV channel. It is about somebody who would rather gripe about something than politely ask. I mean it's obvious the TV is here for the entertainment of the customers, ok yes I watch it too but I could care less about what is on the TV as long as it makes my customers happy. Many customers like to watch FOX, I like to watch Movie channels with a mixture of FOX.

 

If I didn't have a TV then people would be complaining about that.

 

As To Mike_Asia This is not Texas. Yes I know as well as anybody about what a Texas BBQ place would be. Many of them do have TV's. We do sometimes have some music playing but to be honest I don't have the proper music setup and a good collection of music. I hope in the future to change this.

Ate at Bob's BBQ twice in 2 days. First night I had the Nacho Supreme, Poppers (very small) and the Cheese Enchalada Plate. The next day for lunch I had the Chicken Fried Steak with homemade mash potatoes served with green beans UUUUMM Good. Everything was excellent!

 

Bob also has American Fox News on the big flat screen. I wanted to try the ALL YOU CAN EAT babyback ribs for 399baht, but he was currently cooking them and would be ready later. Addtionaly, Bob has a 99baht menu with drink purchase, you can choose a Hamburger and fry for 99baht along with 5 other items Hours... I believe were 12pm to 10pm. Nice palce to eat.

For me it's the ribs... Bob is from the place in the states where I live now... Known for Tex-Mex, smoked meat and barbecue... Damn good in my book as it tastes like home...

I will be in town soon and i make gym and cardiovascular activities 3 or 4 times a week, i need some proteins like chicken and meat and some food with low calories.

 

what Bob's BBQ can offer me in the menu ?

gonna chime in...

 

personally, i like some programs on FOX news as i find other stations to be equally radically left wing (as im sure most find fox to be right wing)...and I listen to all of em to gain balance...im NOT a republican, im a libertarian...i did NOT vote for Bush (I did made the mistake of voting for his father back in 1988) and i DID vote for Obama...strange huh? The only thing im sure of is 2 of the worst presidents this country has ever had were from Texas (LBJ and GWB) and i do think both of em suffered from the same mental disease (texasonia)...if you are born n raised in texas (and i have cousins that were) you simply think differently than if you were raised in other parts of the country and when you are president and have the ability to wage war, thinkin like a texan is dangerous.

 

as for bob's bbq...i have been there a few times...even back when he was on South Rd...service is marginal, but the food is very tasty (though a bit pricey)...I always stop in once or twice a visit and will continue to do so....i think his attitude about the tv is great...if ya dont like whats playin, ask him to change it...lol...seems simple enough...i know i would rather watch paint dry than a soccer match, but lots of folks love to watch soccer...no worries, i just dont look at the tv when its on...besides, all i ever look at in pattaya is the girls...and sitting outside and watching the cuties on LKmetro is all the entertainment i need whilst there.

The chicken fried steak is to DIE for...Bob does the best mashed potatoes in Pattaya to accompany them, as well.

I have to agree here......... The bun is super fresh, the chicken fried stake and the milk gravy taste great and to top it off, that sandwich is HUGE!!!!!

Plus I have to give a shout out for the jalapeño poppers also. yummy

I have been going there every other day at least and I would have to say my favorite meal there is the country fried steak. I like their baked potato and corn sides as well. I know he has limited supplies here but I would like to see more cheddar cheese.

I've eaten there many times and Bob said he was making some recent changes. His first mistake was to take out the front window. Now its hot as hades and I prefer something with AC especially if I am eating lunch around 12noon. I still like the all-u-can-eat ribs though.

definately a winner. They are not perfect but they are pretty good. I try to stop in once a week for the nachos. I usually stop at the rock house for a few beers and have one of the girls bring a menu over. No problems and they acted as if it were a regular occurence to fetch a menu. Maybe next time I'll try the pulled pork

Whenever in Patts, we will usually eat at Bobs at least 3 or times a week. The Ribs are sensational and the hamburgers are fer superior to anything we get here in Australia. I must admit though, the comment on the chips not being enough with the hamburger is spot on. I couldnt imagine most Americans getting full on those 10 fries you get with it.

i had the mexican burger didnt think that much of it the salsa sauce soaked into the bun making it soggy. the beef in thailand isnt all that good too, from my experiences anyways. usually just stick to the pork, chicken and seafood. next trip would have to try a different dish from the rave reviews of Bobs
