Alan. Do you build in Sakon Nakhon area and does the home need to be large, eg we just want something small and simple?

Nice house.  This may be off topic, but why is the crawlspace so narrow?  I get that it is built for Thai people and not North American waist lines. ;-) But seems like slab construction would make it easier to access the ground floor (moving electrical/plumbing overhead between floors). Or take things in the other direction and increase the crawlspace height so that it could become an extra almost free "unfinished" space underneath...except I understand that would make entering the home a pain by adding extra steps, undesirable unless living in a flood plain.

Is it possible to get treated lumber that the termites won't gorge on?  What if a person prefers a stick house?

Unless you live on a hill, crawl spaces really hurt the aesthetics of a house.

Here's one person's solution: recycle a teak dwelling. Termite resistance appears to be among the numerous fine qualities of teak. :)

Thanks for the clarification on the crawlspace.  I had gotten confused by the photos on the first page where it looked like the concrete beams holding up the "ground" floor were about a foot off the ground, high enough for a fit guy to crawl underneath, but not much room for plumbing, electrical, etc.  On second look maybe that was just leveling up the house. Looks like it is coming together nicely.
