House we are building in Cha - Am .

No doubt it's well built etc., but it looks more like an office building than a home.

I would not want to live in something like that, way too big and unnecessary.

I would think the person intending to live there would be the best judge of what size is 'necessary' for their needs, particularly if they have or plan on family.

Alan, would an American style (stick) ranch house except using aluminum studs work in Thailand?  Do the termites eat the gypsum board?

Interesting question. Apparently termites may eat the wood product portion, ie the paper.

"Actually, termites really don't like to eat drywall or paint. They do, however love the paper and glue that covers the drywall board. When the wall  ."

Ive never heard of termites eating Gypsum in Thailand .

But I found this !

we use cement walls not this style , USA uses this on 99% of their houses , also they use this stud walling in the UK in the upstairs not good IMO.

Are there reputable pest control companies in Thailand?

Hopefully. Take a pass on the firm responsible for the below. No offense, but better to be discriminating.

The house looks nice ... my only comment is ... HOW does anyone have enough patience to build a house here in Thailand?  I would be in a straight jacket and locked up under a jail somewhere.

OP: I can't imagine what you are going through.
