I stayed August Suites in May def no joiner fees

to clarify...  for bringing in two girls at once???

they have always charged before, same as April Suites...

A few times I took in 3 different girls over the course of the day but not at the same time.

I got on with and made the hotel desk staff laugh which always helps and maybe contributes to not being charged but I really do not think there is a policy there to charge for a joiners however many, I took a girl back there literally 5 minutes after walking out with another one at least twice. Only got smiles from the hotel desk. Hope this helps.

August and April have always charged for the second gal if you are taking them in same time...  sounds like you never took two in at the same time?

I read from one guy here who was staying at April who was even being charged 500 in your scenario, for a second girl coming in later, after the first one had left...  but I think that was an over zealous desk person...

I was charged at April when I had two gals come from Devil's Den...  this was two years ago now tho, but I have not heard of any change in the policy...

Good to see Areca Lodge has dropped its 18/19 yr old policy, out of curiosity, does anyone know why they did? New management or because they we losing punters? Or perhaps we will never know... just curious.... thanks.

I stayed in Areca in July 2014. The policy was 18+, so very good, but the rumbling noise from aircon units on balconies was awful.

Last week I moved to another hotel because of the air con noise , it was like having a 747 jet engine in the room.

I'm more likely to get some sleep on board of any Boeing than in Areca's room. During my stay there I never slept with aircon on. But I was still bothered by the vibration carried from other balconies, that with earplugs in my ears, bed pushed farthest away from the window, and TV broadcasting white noise to mask the pulsating rumble. You get the picture.

IMO it's an outright disgrace that 'hotel polices' on websites like Agoda.com fail to mention the policy on invited guests, while in the 'useful info' section you can find information about the distance to the airport.

Each hotel should be fully upfront and clear about what they have on offer, and there should be really no need for a thread as this.

A bit of a personal anecdote here, I remember staying in Tokyo hotels where no member of staff would dare ask a guest whom they take into their room. I know, I'm a dreamer.

As a rule I write a mail to the hotel before every trip asking for clarification on joiner policy before I confirm booking. Even if the last trip was less than 6 weeks back. Its always better to have it in ink.

Do any Pattaya hotels have a joinder fee for the first guest?  Many of the upscale hotels in BKK do and it drives me right up a wall. They usually have some little creep standing by the elevators to rudely escort you to the front desk to collect the extra fee, usally about 800 baht.  I almost decked the  little bas...d the first time it happened.

Not aware of any, stick to ones listed here that are girl friendly, and when booking book for 2 people...

Can confirm, I last tested this (inadvertedly) on or around July 10. The policy is even stated clearly on a sheet on the front desk, so at least they're not being sneaky about it.

Did not test their stance on two guests at any time during my stay.

Pattaya Discovery Beach hotel has a joiner fee

Link: http://www.pattayadiscoverybeach.com

Link II: Tripadvisor

Here is the answer i got from them today:

Dear  PEJ,

Greetings from Pattaya Discovery Beach Hotel.

Referring to your inquiry, we would like to inform you that if your booking was made for 2 person. Our policy is that the 2nd person needs to check in together and fill in registration form and leave us the passport or id copy. This is called the second person in the room. Should you make a booking for 2 person but only 1 person did register and did check in, than the hotel will charge every time should you bring someone to your room. We call such person by hotel terms a "joiner" and we'll charge a joiner fee of THB 1000.-- per time.

Best regards,
Keeratikarn V.

D*mn it!!!  I'm afraid I have screwed myself.  I just found this thread right after booking LK Renaissance for Oct 3-19.  I really wanted a hotel for my first stay there, that would be middle of the road expense wise, have a pool, nicely appointed, extra seating in the room, refrigerator, room service, elevators, etc... But I definitely like to enjoy two girls, sometimes often during my trips.  I am thinking of cancelling my reservation.  Does anyone know of a decent hotel, or really good guesthouse near LK Metro that doesn't charge for two girls?  I want to stay near my buddy who is staying at the Golf Club and walking distance from LK Metro.  How about a list of the hotels that don't charge for two girls?  Or do I just assume, all others do not?  Help!!!

I agree. From what i have read, most hotels are guest friendly, do not charge for 1 guest but charge for second one. A list of hotels with no joiners fee for the 3rd guest would be quite welcome.
