   Just back from Pat 3 weeks. This trip I got the best ratein the past years. I got 32 Baths for 1 US. The best place is  a small booth near the end of Sukhumvit Rod, near Kiss Restaurant North Pattaya. another one is at the street corner of Royal Garden Plaza. Also good rate.  Never change at Bangkok Airport, their rate is the lowest in LOS  !! Just change enough money for the transportation to Pattaya. There are plenty money exchange at twon. NO rush.

It gives you a rough idea but it's the mid market rate. Better would be any link to any Thai bank exchange rate page. The rates can change so much depending on so many different factors that nothing beats a photo of an exchange booth. Check Sateefs daily photo thread, he often posts one

This is what I always use when I want to check the rate it also allows you to check historical rates for the last 15 years

 

For example GBP buying rates (what you actually receive for £1 from Bangkok Bank)

Best I have found in BKK - Jewelers area. More of a wholesaler to the shops in the walls. Used by locals and expats.

My Currency co. Shop hours are not the best - merchant hours - so ring ahead.

 

40 Narativas Road SILOM 02 2384747 not far from Chong Nonsi Station.

 

Its a boring shop you could walk past, straddled by dentist shops, mirrored widows, and you get buzzed in.

They buy and sell all currencies and IMHO fully professional.

I think this is a shop where unless you do a $500 or more you are perhaps just tolerated. Anyway, best rates.

I load up and hit Pattaya (Australian banks feel like 10% cut is their birthright). So they get nought from me.

 

Not far on the opposite of the look looks to be Silom Dental - a big, expensive operation, that ruined an Americans mouth by drilling posts into her nasal cavity (extreme malpractice, documented see utube). Its a shame they have not resolved this and keep on changing the name to escape liability. I wouldn't use any dentist on Silom road.
