try not to panic...lol its hard to i know. my friend had condoms break/raw dogged 3 chicks on our first trip back in august. i also had a condom break on me while out there. both of us got tested immediately when we got back and we are both clean. longest 2 weeks ever waiting for those test results. only thing my friend got was a slightly fractured/dislocated penis from too much sex lol he thought he caught something for sure since his penis was hurting for like 2 weeks and he had a bruise looking rash thing at the base. it all ended up being ok in the end. Positive Thoughts man, good luck!

The issue is about risk, and unprotected sex with a prostitute is high risk. The good news is that (assuming you had nothing before), female to male transmission carries a smaller risk than male to female. So, my advice would be to go to a doctor, explain the situation, and he/she will prob recommend a 28 day course of PEP depending on what you tell the Dr.

To be clear, PEP is not fun. The meds can be tough, you have to be committed to taking the full course for 28 days and it is not suitable for everyone. So, if you are thinking about PEP, you need to see a doctor immediately - starting PEP after 3 days is considered a waste of time. It's most effective starting within the hour of possible exposure, but within 24-48hrs to meds should be effective if you've been exposed to HIV.

I've done 2 courses of PEP myself, for needle-stick injuries from patients with diagnosed HIV+, so I know what the course is like. I get regular blood tests as part of my work, so I know that I'm HIV clear - this was down to the use of PEP I'm sure.

So, if you are truly worried about HIV, see a doctor within 20mins of reading this post and explain the situation. If you do a PEP regime, you'll need to do a HIV test at 3 months, then a second test at 6 months after exposure - by the 6 month marker, HIV antibodies will or won't be clearly visible in your blood, and you'll get the all-clear or bad news.

For other STI's, antibiotics will usually clear up most of these, however be sure to speak to a Dr if you want to take some meds - please don't just go to a pharmacy and self-prescribe and medicate.

FYI I'm an MD and work in this field. So, for peace of mind, make an appointment now with a decent Dr, fully explain the situation, and follow the recommendations. If PEP is not suggested, I'd politely challenge the Dr as to why this is not the case - there may be legit reasons, such as non-availability of meds or an existing health condition that makes taking the PEP meds high risk for you.

All the best,

Just bare-backed a freelancer

Wow... so did I. Don't panic. Just make sure you don't do it again or break a condom until you've done a HIV test, not to spread the disease if you unfortunatly got it. Very few chances anyway.

Thanks for the mostly constructive feedback that I have received.

So the following night I go out and try and find the Freelancer again, but after several hours of walking around and around, I couldn’t find her.

So this morning I headed to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital. I was totally honest with him – I had unprotected sex with a prostitute and I fully accepted his advice; a blood test plus the full range of medication.

First of all the blood test - that was a drama in itself (I’ll write a trip report later)! – which has thankfully came back as being negative for both HIV and Syphilis. Secondly, gave me a jab for something and thirdly a course of medication. The PEP medication doesn’t sound like it is going to be a walk in the park and I’m already beginning to feel nauseous.

The Doctor has written a note in Thai that I can give to the girl asking that she also goes for a HIV test.

All told the tests and treatment have come to 3,200 baht and I have to go for another blood test before I leave and another in 3 months.

The Doctor also confirmed what Asiafunstuff has said with regard to HIV; timing is critical, for the HIV treatment to be effective it has to be started 72 hours at the very latest.

Funnily enough yesterday I had an email from the lottery, to say that I had won the lottery, it was only £10, but yesterday truly was my lucky day!

As the others have said - not much you can do but wait (I've been there several times). It's not easy but you have to keep reassuring yourself that it is unlikely you've caught anything and very unlikely you have caught anything very bad. If you have caught something such as ghonorea you will most likely notice the symptoms after about 5 days. As for HIV, even if she did have it it's not an easy virus to transmit - something like 1 time in 1000 (although I think it's less than that for the strain most prevalent in SE Asia. You have to wait 3 months to have a test and be sure you are clear. However many health professionals do say that the majority of infections show up before this and so you could have an initial test after 6-7 weeks to reassure you a bit and then one at the 3 month point to be totally sure.

Well, all the best @bb69. Glad you saw a Doctor and got a consultation, good luck with the PEP. Don't worry, he has heard it all before and won't be shocked! I'd say maybe just ease off the booze, eat well, and exercise a bit more and not sweat it - trust me, it'll help your physical & mental health! I've been where you're at before mate, so I know what it's like. It fucking sucks.

But, good news is if you take the PEP properly for the next month and be a tad more careful in the future, chances are pretty minimal you've caught anything, let alone anything serious.

Let the next month take it's course, take the meds religiously, be sensible and bag up with any future dates. If you wanna go over anything, PM me dude.

Don't panic first of all......

Think most of us have had equipment failures from time to time. My first time I was a little scared too.

Just remember that

1) She has to have something for you to get.

2) Transmission of anything is never 100% if she does have something.

3) Most common things are easily cleared up.

4) You would have to be really unlucky to get Herp/Syph or HIV from a once off encounter.

Most of us find it hard to enjoy sex with a condom. Problem is, as you have just discovered, it's no so enjoyable without one in some cases either. Just bag it up from now on, get some good ones don't buy cheap crap. Get some lube and place a drop on ya knob first, improves sensation somewhat.

Don't let it spoil ya trip, you are probably worrying about nothing. Bag up and get back in the game...!!

Good post.

At the minimal this will put your mind to ease without any doubt.

I don't doubt scientific data and statistics. That said, "low" and "no" chance aren't the same. No one ever think it will happen to them until it happens to them. And when it does, they are shock and surprise.

If the chance of HIV transmission is so low, why is there an epidemic? These two "facts" seems contradictory

Like lottery, however low the chance of winning, SOMEONE always wins it.

There is a reputable hospital in Pattaya that's very reasonably priced even without insurance. Go down, tell them why you are coming (like this is going to be the first time they hear it being in middle of Pattaya?). The doctors there can advise you far more professionally.

Whatever the consequences of anyone's advice here, it'll be YOUR health that's at stake. So I don't know if there's anything "on the line here for anyone other then you.

Your money. Your health. Your decision.

Hope that's easily enough for you to decide.

Do you mind telling us WHICH hospital ?

their ≠ there ≠ they’re; theirs ≠ there’s; your ≠ you’re; its ≠ it’s; whose ≠ who’s;

Best way to get peace of mind is to take her to get tested that way you can be reasonably confident. I've caught a couple of doses of ghonorea and chymidia out there from similar experiences but luckily it only took zithromax to clear it up.

zithromax, fantastic stuff, the "domestos" of the drug world

You should see a priest as you experienced a miracle since Azithromycin has absolutely no effect on Gonorrhea at all. Never did never will. It is very effective on Chlamydia.

Here is the reality. The chance of catching HIV from one exposure assuming it was not a violent encounter where blood contact was present is about zero.

Post exposure prophylaxis is usually reserved for health care workers who get blood to blood contact, from an HIV positive person or rape victims where blood is a real possibility and there will never be the ability to test the other party.

The possiblity of Chlamydia and Gonorrhea is higher but also not 100% infectious per exposure. If one was to get any tests done (of the girl) then those two are fast and accurate and treatable with an injection of Ceftriaxone for the G and Azithromycin for the C. For both partners.

If there's no infection then taking antibiotics is pointless, hastens bacteria ultimately becoming resistant and can have side effects.

I don't quite understand what it is this 'hospital' is saying to you! Which hospital was it?

I am guessing that they have given you some interim medical dosing, I assume for HIV?

Blood tests for the full spectrum of the more common infections takes around a week. Some can be obtained in an hour. And some need a urine test. So presumably the blood test in a week is to see if your current medication is working. But you should get a further result in a week from your first blood test. Not sure which infection that is for to be honest, but if I recall correctly a week was necessary for full results. That was with the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital by the way. They charge 5200 baht for a full test which also includes a morning after urine test.

So have they advised you what the medicine is for?

Good call to have it checked out properly anyway despite the risks of contracting something being relatively low!

But you never know when there is a bullet in the chamber!

Good luck on next weeks lottery!

I went to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital. An awful lot of what was said was lost due to language difficulties, but I had an initial HIV & syphilis test, which came back as negative. I also received a jab for something (maybe for Hep A or B?) and have prescribed a range of what is 'PEP' medication (for HIV) + Doxycycline (for STi's).

Again not entirely sure what the second test is, but I understand that they have to test over several periods to that there aren't any false readings (and obviously make sure that there aren't any positive readings).

I know, I know, what a dumb ass thing to do; I didn't set out to do it, I was struggling to finish with a damn condom and before I knew it she had taken the condom off and was screwing me without.....

Anyway I've always been super careful so never really read up on STI's or even worse, HIV so don't really have a clue what to do next.

* Is there some kind of 'morning after the night before' type of thing that I can take?

* I guess that i need to go and get tested now, but will any infections show up immediately?

* Any other useful information that I should know about?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

No. It was described.

Before we started boom boom she asked me the 'usual thai questions' and I confirmed that I don't have children, (ex)wife or girlfriend. We had been going at for an age and we end up with her in cowgirl on top of me. She whips off the condom and actions that she was going to start again in cowgirl, I just laugh (as I thought that no-one would that stupid) and that she goes down on my cock and gives several strides before I could stop her. I asked her after why she did it and she said "I want farang baby".

Better get a full check up and pray mate..

Please don't take this the wrong way, but if you read through the thread, you will see that there is much more appropriate advice already given, particularly by BM 'AsianFunStuff'. Thanks.

Panicking for nothing I reckon and on top of it dosing yourself up with unecessary medications.

The only thing you can do really is wait and get a HIV test three months down the track which will come back negative I can assure you.

Everybody who mongers for long enough will inevitably have a similar episode where either the condom breaks or you cant stand it anymore and you want skin on skin. I am not saying it is right and of course you should always bag up but inevitably the longer you monger around something like this is bound to happen.

Chances of catching HIV almost zero. Relax you will be fine.

There are many clinic's all over Pattaya, just go in and get test done, then the doctor will advise on what you have and prescribe drugs.

I know that's what "everyone" says. However, empirical data suggest there is a HIV and AIDS epidemic. So now if I can just reconcile YOUR assertion of virtually no chance of catching it vs. those unfortunate soul that's part of the epidemic then I might be more convince.

Same reason I buy the lottery. HOWEVER SLIM the chances are, SOMEONE always wins (and I can tell you there's not an epidemic of people WINNING the lottery). So how UNLUCKY are you?
