Ho hum. After 30+ years living and working in France I ..................

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Don't let a good threadfuck die huh?

Considering that it's owned by an English guy and he's specialising in English style food, maybe he should take heed of the OP and spend the 6k to change the friggin' froggy name?

After reading the OP I was tempted to give advertised restaurant a try.

But in view of all the highly sophisticated posts in regards of French and Spanish grammar, I’m not so sure if would be able to place my orders grammatically correct. :Dunno:

I don't know...I'm tempted to try the ribeye....I heard it was fuckin awesome. :GoldenSmile1:

Might the JF buy 10 get 1 free scheme be extended across the whole of your Empire? :GoldenSmile1:

I might well introduce it to the China Garden, there will we a daily Chinese Buffet for somewhere under 300 baht each day from 12 noon until 3pm and al carte from 5pm until midnight. The buffet will either be eat as much as you like and a higher price or cheaper and by the plate. We shall see...

Oh, devastating. The hamster thing was bad enough, but saying his dad had the odor of elderberries? Have you no humanity?

Haha.

In the (nerdy) forums I generally frequent just about all of the members would recognise this very famous quote from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and its French association.

In here I wonder what percentage recognise it?

That might be because most BMs are not crass (or sad) enough to make posts pointing out our diverse membership's spelling and grammatical mistakes.

Alternatively, it could be because some of us got the distinct impression from the OP that the thread was about a Restaurant offering "English Grub".

So far I have tried the Steak & Kidney Pie/Pudding with Mashed Potatoes and Peas and it was very good.

For those confused by certain posts here, the Menu is in English and I don't think there was any French Cuisine at all and definitely no Rabbit Pie (unfortunately). :GoldenSmile1:

Definitely English pub grub place, bangers & mash, Sunday roasts and much much more. The name was inherited some six years ago when it was run by two lads from Belgium and has never been changed.

Or maybe they're just really thick and didn't notice?

I did notice but I wouldnt normally bother posting about spelling or grammar mistakes, unless in direct response to a post that itself makes a comment about spelling or grammar.

LE KATAI - The name seems to put you off as it seems French but give the place a try,,

.......................

The biggest problem I'm having in this place is getting a seat.

I don't know why you thought anyone was put off, it's very popular.

Happy to read all your comments, I will pass them on to the cooks and the staff. I operate / rent the restaurant at Le Katai and also operate the Jolly Friar a few doors up and the forthcoming China Garden in the same Soi (which will open in 3 weeks).

Thanks again

Ian

Thanks for the notice about the other 2 restaurants. I will have to try them on my next trip. Keep up the good work!

I ordered a "filet mignon" in Borocay, Philippines, once.

Guess what I was served:. A piece of fish wrapped in bacon.

When I queried this, I was informed that I should have ordered

"Steak Mignon"

Gotta love the Flips :Hug1:

cheers mick :Number1a:

:LOL2: Hahahha, that is too funny! I can't stop laughing! :LOL2:

I will have to remember that whenever I am in the Philippines. But, that will make me laugh everytime I think about it.

Thanks for a good laugh!

Great News, ( Le Kathai ) The RABBIT - Now has loads of tables for two.

In the past all the Tables were for 4 and 90% of the Tables had 1 person sitting there.

We have eaten there many times and seen so many people walk away as they didn't want to share a table.

Now the problem has been solved and Le Kathai now has 7 extra tables.

No need to walk pass any more.

Cheers.

I sat at my first table for 2 yesterday. A much better idea, it always felt a waste to take up a table for 4.

Here's another idea, could we maybe have a gammon steak one night (maybe instead of one of the two steak nights. I love gammon but at the moment have to go elsewhere.

We actually used to have Gammon Steak as a special on Wednesdays and it was not particularly popular to we changed it to Pie & Mash instead... Gammon Steaks are available on the normal menu any time, if I removed or changed the steak night it might cause a riot in Soi Lengkee! so no plans to do that...

I discovered this place 10 days ago and I've been 4 times since, lol. The only thing that could improve is the quality of the teabags. Tesco do some decent tea bags 'Finest Assam' or 'Finest English Breakfast'...

Tesco's here ? I will stop in and take a look... PG and Teetleys are sold here but very pricey, at least we dont use Lipton Yellow tea bag which really are bad!

I used to have friends bring over PG Tips but they have not been out for a while :o(
