Where exactly is this mall located? It's obviously on Beach Rd, but is it closer to Soi 2 than say Soi 13?

maybe you could read through the thread....

i really couldn't care less about upscale shopping but are there fl's hanging around like the other malls?

I was there at the opening and two days later, didn't see anything that looked like a FL but it was so packed. I'm not sure that they like this kind of malls, it's way too big, they probably prefer more compact places where they can be seen and don't have to walk so much (6 floors!).

I also remember now that while i was seating with my Yin in a restaurant almost across the street from Central festival (on the second road side) i so 2 russian FL waiting across the street from the new mall, it looked weard to me back than. Is a hotel there wich i don't remember the name, with a lot of arab or indians that are probably very attrcted by those russians, so it can explain it.

Love that place. Spent a lot of time eating at the food court downstairs and restaurants on the 5 & 6 Floor. Good place to take the chick shopping also, but it's not cheap. Other than the small shops behind the food court, it's a pretty high end mall.

I am guessing its a longer term investment for teh Central group.

1] Its heavily promoted to the Bangkok "Wealthy Trendy" crowd who would see coming down to pattaya on the weekend to go shopping and go to the beach to be a pleasant alternative to shopping all weekend in Bangkok.

The amount of parking is indicative of teh fact that there not looking for trade out of teh Pattaya Beach area.

2] The 5 star hotel on top will all so probably be targeted at teh middle east and Indian trade who want an upmarket shopping holiday.

3] I think the shopping profile has been actively designed to make it unattractive for bar girls to hang out. Too expensive and teh staff are not very welcoming to teh few lower end browsers I saw the other week.

It is better to light even one candle than to live in fear of the dark.

I used it as a good place to eat as they have an abundance of restuarants there. If you like Japanese food, then you'll surely not be disappointed.

I went into some of the shops and the prices were higher than what I'd pay in the UK. Factoring in the weakened £, the prices are roughly the same as what you'd pay in the UK verging on being slightly more expensive.

looks like most of the places in BKK, a surbrban shopping mall with some Asian flare. I'll swing by if I need to get some good aircon and get away from the sweltering heat!

Aside from that, I come to Thailand to see THAILAND, not commercialism served up and nice and clean for tourist! Give me a street food card, a roadside vendor selling t-shirts and all the dirty little ST bars I can handle! Soi Six FTW!

Eat. Down. South.

Hey Yo,

Checked out this place around the first week of Feb and it was hella nice dude, but the only thing I was really interested in was the food. Too bad you have to pay at a kiosk then walk to the restaurant and pay with a meal-card. Kinda weird. I had a dream that night that my BG was pushing me in a stroller around the mall while I was eating an ice cream, she was naked of course and I was in dread-locks.

I love this place..

I checked out the Mall a couple of times in February and was suitabily impressed by its size and grandeur, though its really just another gigantic money extraction magnete designed transfer money from your pocket to the Mall owners and tenants.

It was full of the usual 'suspect' shop tenants as one would expect in Thailand - nothing new there, same any other mall in the country.

But the location, views and layout was a cut above. I made the mistake of seeing a film in the cinema and due to the sub-antartic temperature set by some idiot cinema manager, I ended up a few days later with bronchitis. Thanks pal!

Here's a photo taken from an upper level looking out over Beach Road.
