Makes you wonder if they could use something similar to this to make the Cave passage larger in the few spots its tight. Even a small charge of explosives depending on how skilled someone is.

May help in reducing the risk of having to disrobe ones tank.

This is not a conventional problem .. these guys bring the clear Blue Sky thinking needed to rise above the conventional solutions that do not easily solve this problem .. the Skunk Works, Bell Labs, "Houston, we have a problem" sort of stuff.

Sure, some of the ideas do not work, but amongst them there might be one that does .. and worthwhile.

Rumours this night that Rescue May Have Begun …

"Operation to rescue at least one of 12 boys trapped in a flooded cave may have begun already. The surge of activity outside suggests something is at least imminent. Ambulances have been moved in place. Barriers erected to block all vantage points of the cave entrance. Etc."

No official confirmation thought at 8AM this morning...

Just came across my tv here on Sky news in Australia the media have been moved back and Authorities have said a rescue is now underway

Thai cave rescue site cleared to 'help victims': officials

Thai authorities told media and non-essential personnel on Sunday to leave a camp site near the entrance to a cave: "Everyone who is not involved with the operations has to get out of the area immediately," police announced via loudspeaker at the site. "From the situation assessment, we need to use the area to help victims." ..

09:13: Officials did not clarify whether the complex effort to dive the team out of the kilometres-long Tham Luang Cave in northern Thailand had commenced.

10:36: ‘D-DAY’ IS HERE, CAVE RESCUE LEADER ANNOUNCES

“Today is the D-Day. At 10 am, 13 foreign divers went in to rescue the boys with 5 Thai navy SEAL divers.”

10:50: Rescue operation to extract cave survivors has begun

Divers have begun an operation to try to extract the 13 survivors out of Tham Luang Cave, chief of the rescue mission Narongsak Osotthanakorn announced at 10.30 am this morning.

He said the rescue operation began at 10.00 am and the survivors will be brought out in what is known as a “buddy dive” in which each of the survivors will be escorted by two rescue divers.   He told a news briefing that the first survivor should be brought out by 9 pm tonight.

11:15: This will be a very long day for many people... :(

Unsure if we will have news of this rescue progression during the day ??

There are a few links of local English news sites :

and of course Facebook and Twitter

11:35: It's still unclear (and unofficial) but it could be that not all boys will be rescued today. Rumours of a few boys not strong enough (or not ready enough?) for "the big dive". Also the fact that there are only 18 divers and that the Governor said "2 divers per boy" could confirm that at most 9 boys are rescued... ??   All 13 ! :)

Guardian again:

Rescue mission is underway, governor confirms

The rescue mission has begun, the governor has confirmed at a press conference this morning.

18 divers have been sent into the caves to retrieve the 12 boys and their football coach. The 13 people inside the Cave have been informed and are ready and their families have been informed.

Medical teams have been rehearsing for three days and are ready to treat the group when they emerge.

Quick prayer to St Jude. There's world cup final tickets waiting for the lads. Slow and steady.

Indeed but Musk is a tad late, picking up on the story from 20 second montage on Fox News.  Tragedies like this also bring opportunists. This kinda feels like this.

Tomorrows news papers “ Musk team arrive in BKK, while child sub is stuck in Thai customs , the Engineers are enjoying Nana Plaza, Soi 1 “

The solutions are on the ground, guys with fingerspitzgefühl, guys who have made the  11 hour trip one way several times.

This is nerve wracking and the media have just been ordered back. Someone is preparing for the worst while we all hope and pray for the best.

God bless

Please God they can all be safely extracted from the Cave - anxious hours lay ahead for all involved.

I wonder if the lads have any idea how many millions of people are quietly praying for them.

I know very few about diving, but I remember seeing the pics below of a mask they show at a press meeting, and the blue inscription on the right is "Communication".  So...?

Edit: From this article, they may not have such masks, as the army didn't have small ones (at the day of the article), only adult size ones.

I'm not a God fearing man, but I will pray today. :ThankGod1:

On a lighter note, I'm now getting all my news about the trapped soccer kids from this thread. Pattaya-addicts should consider getting press credentials and having reporters at the site post directly. :)

There has reportedly been a flurry of activity where the media are assembled with people being ordered to leave the sides of the roads amid rumours a high-ranking politician may soon be arriving.
