No 98 baht Buster Breakfast in the New Retox

Recommended Posts

I reckon it might have been Lloydie's idea.........

..........or his best mate's.

Something Lloydies would do.

Not before he stole them first mind.

Don't irovers and retox both have the same owners?

Darren is the new owner of Irish rovers and Simon is the owner of Retox and Retox Game on.

English Breakfast served on a wooden bread board! what the fuck next?

Don't care if they gave it away free I would never eat that of that.

Who the fucks idea was it to put beans in a egg cup and a fried egg on a bread board?

Some real stupid cunts about.

Good grief, an English breakfast in Soi Honey Pattaya served on a wooden paddle that looks like it belongs in an S&M club!!

I can understand the logic behind Retox 2 trying to differentiate itself a bit from its sister venue, but please keep the core elements consistent and predictable.

(The second photo is hilarious)

Did the sausage come separate like that?

Surely not!

Anyway - the small breakfast at 95 baht is still good value! Everyone has to admit the 99 baht buster deal in the other Retox is ridiculous value! The best I've ever seen in Pattaya and I've been here a few years. It also pushed others to lower there prices I think.

Maybe what with the location closer to 2nd road - and perhaps higher rents - they want to have higher prices and attract a clientele with a little bit more cash :P

So far I've had the Huntsmans chicken and the lasagna in the new Retox and its been seriously good.. like amazingly good!

Even if the food was good, not sure about the wooden tennis table bat for a plate, Imagine in a few months how many bacteria you would be served along with the breakfast.

Yup, wooden plates can't just be washed, they should be sanitized with a chemical solution. If it's not done properly, people can get very sick.

Totally agree. Also wooden boards don't have raised edges.

So any Liquid flows off the board and onto the table.

I blame Jamie Oliver for this madness.......  :Crazy1:

Having the 98 baht brekkie in Retox 1 now. It's got to be a loss leader, just don't know how they do it.

My Pattaya budget is perfectly adequate as long as I don't spend any of it

It is. Keeps the bar busy, most punters don't just buy the brekkie and it garners a huge amount of word of mouth. He's a smart bloke Simon.

I came, I saw, I mongered!

Great post! Did you get any funny looks in Retox 2 when you ordered all that food?

There is another problem with wooden boards.

If left to soak during washing, they are likely to warp.

Note that the boards in the OP's pics are made from multiple segments, glued together.

These segments will warp at different rates and in different directions.

That will cause the glue to fail and they will fall apart.

I'm not guessing here - it happened to one of my wooden chopping boards.

If they are going to serve breakfasts like that, I suggest the use of plastic camping plates.

You know - the ones that don't break even if you throw them at the wall :)

Thanks for the info. I had the same question about the buster breakfast when I walk pass 2 weeks ago.

As I didn't see any promo signage outside, I decided not to go in.

What a waste , as this is a great location for those staying on 2nd road.

Thanks to OP as this saved me a bad breakfast. I will never eat off a breadboard and probably would have just left it.

Speaking of bad sausages, I love the Witherspoons breakfast but always leave the sausages as well, are there any great breakfast with nice sausages?

I suppose it depends what sort of sausage you like.

I still think the best overall breakfast I had last trip was in the Pig & Whistle on Soi 7 - though the Jomtien P&W and Continental Bakery were both good as well.

Yeah I did enjoy the pig & whistle breakfast, just too lazy to walk that far so I guess I need to do it...I don't need a fantastic sausage but it at least needs to be eatable (is that a word?)

He's talking about sausage.

Well, you DO have to be VERY careful when choosing a BF nowadays!

I would rather an eatable BG rather than an 'edible' sausage...just saying :)
