omg dude, werent you in pain, that corner tooth was totally gone, you could see the root showing???

Actually I didn't have much pain at all just some chilling sometimes, although the teeth were badly worn down the roots were luckily still intact and not inflamed!

BTW get rid of amalgam fillings they are made out of mercury, http://alternativeco...es-dental-risk/

Yes, I know!

I'm planning on putting in 3 more Zirconia crowns this next trip, to finally get rid of all the amalgam.

Prior to having the work done in patts, did you get a diagnosis from a Swedish dentist to see what work they recommended you having

No I didn't. I just checked out myself in the mirror.

The overall lesson we should all learn from Plahgat's ordeal is not to always postpone this work the way he did. Had he been going to the dentist at regualr intervals over the years he wouldn't be having all these problems. I learned this the hard way 5 years ago.

True I waited way too long,

I'm just lucky that they still managed to put in crowns on all my broken teeth,

If I had waited one year or more I would probably lost some of my teeth!

I now know the dentist I will be using if I never need dental work done in Pattaya. I've passed by that place on south Pattay Rd a number of times.

Just for your info, there are several dentists working at Pattaya Smile Dental Clinic, and what I've heard from others is that they are all good!

There are also several other dental clinics that has got good reviews from other customers, so don't stare yourself blind on only one clinic!

Some of the more popular dentists also works at more than one clinic, because they might have the same owners and are linked to eachother.

My advice would be to do as I did, try a few different clinics and go with the one that feels best for you, they all give out free first check ups

so it doesn't cost you a thing to try a few before you decide on wich one to do the actual work!

Pattaya Smile Dental Clinic doesn't have the most modern or advanced machinery to work with, but the skills of the dentists makes up for it!

German Dental Clinic that I first went to was using more up to date top modern instruments, and they have their own lab.

X-Ray machine was quite amazing, instead of a small moveable camera that they take multipel shots with, they use a huge "walk in" machine,

That has a camera that moves automatically from one side of your face to the other and takes just one big X-ray plate showing all your teeth both upper and lower!

As I said earlier pick out a few clinics you think looks promising and go there for free check ups,

give them some thoughts a few days, and then decide which one you'd prefer!

Impossible to tell from glitzy and colourful pictures on a website if a clinic is good or not!

Hi Plahgat, it has been a couple of years since you have had this work done.  May we ask how the work held up?

Thanks

Hi! My new crowns are still in place and intact,no problems! Last year I finished the total renovation, and changed my last amalgam fillings for white composite. Dr Jay thought I didn't need more crowns. Cost only 2000 baht. This year warranty went out so I did a last check and everything still OK, except my Dr Jay doesn't do general dentistry anymore. She now specialises on braces only.

Mate I just want to thankyou and congratulate you on an exceptional report!

Ive been spending hours on the forum looking for dentists as I need a root canal on an upper molar followed by at least a filling, if I want to go the cheap way or a crown for the expensive but better way.

I just got the tooth cleaned out and got them to put a temporary filling for 7000 baht in my fucking country and got quoted for a root canal with filling, no crown, $2400 (70.000 baht) !!!

As you know the molar is a little more complicated and has 4 canals unlike a standard tooth which has the one canal so they bend you over and fuck you with no loob in Australia, the dentist was pissed and said that he would be fixing the Thai dentist's fuckup in the future, what an idiot!

I have now found about 4-5 places in Pattaya thanks to this forum and hopefully in about a months time I will be able to report on it...

$2400 for a root canal with filling is expensive.

I think I paid $2500 a few years back for a root canal + crown.

I can understand while you are coming you to Thailand.

Dental work was the reason for my trip to Thailand back in 2009 when I had an implant done.

My last visit to the dentist (couple of months ago) indicated I had a cracked tooth and that I should get a crown made.

I was quoted around $1,700 for this so I'm now looking at heading over to Pattaya in March for a crown and 10 day holiday.

The initial quote was $1800 for a root canal and an additional $1800 for a crown but the dentist said there's a chance he might not be able to do the root canal and it might need a microscope so off to a dental specialist which is $2400 + crown, crazy prices!

Im going to Thailand on average twice a year anyway, its not like Im going there just for my teeth so two birds with one stone, well maybe a lot more birds than two :GoldenSmile1:

But just like yourself, I think its the best choice!
