Sorry to ask the classic newbie question - Im staying at a hotel in Kamala Beach - Its a bit up market - any hassle bringing girls back, I have been before, and I know that some hotels charge extra for an "extra" guest - but has any one heard of a hotel not allowing a girl back?

I've come across it a couple of times, both in Bangkok, I think it's highly unlikely your hotel in Phuket will be a problem. You can always ask someone at the hotel, the doorman or reception counter.

THanks _ I was thinking of sneaking her in but I guess a few baht to the doorman might also help? Cheers

Well unless that particular hotel has a no-overnight-guests policy there's no need to do any sneaking or backhanding to the doorman. just walk straight in and up to your room. As I said yesterday, just ask reception what's the deal with me bringing a lady back? If they have a no-overnight-guests policy then I would change hotels pronto. But I'm sure you'll find there's no problem at all.

Well in fact many upscale hotels, even in Patong, do charge a joiner fee up to 1000 Baht. In the worst case in some hotels the BG aren't even allowed inside.

Better to send email to your hotel to ask upfront and take that email with you when checking in!

You can also do some research on the net:

Absolutely. If a man is mongering inclined and planning a Thailand holiday then a girl friendly hotel is a MUST. This would be the first thing I'd be finding out. Because if they are not girl friendly then your holiday is seriously handicapped. Got to find this out real early, way before making any payments.
