Double standards in certain clubs

rum

Recommended Posts

I am frustrated by the double standards imposed in certain clubs in Walking Street. Me and my friends who are of indian descent tried to enter airport agogo, Walking Street club and club Mixx and were blatantly refused. We did not look drunk as we had just started our night out and we were dressed appropriately to enter the club. I simply don't understand why there is some form of racial prejudice as we saw other tourists able to get in whereas only the indians and arabs were rejected entrance. Can't something be done about this coz it is affecting the quality of our partying in patts.

I'm in Pattaya at the moment too, read my trip report.

My opinion is best to stay away really.

Unfortunately there is not much you and/or we can do. I got refused entry to a gogo bar once simply because I was with a TG.

Serious? Most of the times I've went into a gogo I've been with a lady, only been in once or twice to a gogo on my own lol

Anyway to the OP, deal with it and move on to somewhere else. That's unfortunately the way it is, but not all places are discrimnatory. As poster above says, hit Insomnia, I've never been but saw a lot of the pictures of hotties in there, who knows, you might even pick up one of the infamous porn stars that hang out there :D

Request, do not post about 2000 indians sharing a bottle of water :-

1.) I was at last fridays bar crawl and was asked twice in seperate establishments to 'finish drink' yet no other BM was asked.

2.) Don't tar with the same brush - does'nt happen the other way.

Unfortunately you are the victim of prejudice and stereotyping. The bars and girls have had negetive experiences with people from these countries and have tarred everyone with the same brush. That is unlikely to change so either find a bar/club/agogo that does want your custom or find somewhere else to go on holiday.

Suffering the indignity of an honest day's work so that I can afford to return to Patts.

I was sitting outside a gogo bar in Soi Cowboy and a couple of Indian guys walked up and the bouncers drew the curtains and said that it was a private members club. When they had gone I asked the bouncers why they did that and they said that the guys would just look at the ladies and not buy drinks or barfine. Stereo typing to the extreme.

I would just walk away and take my money elsewhere, I am sure that there are plenty of establishments that would be willing to accept it.

I don't agree with what is happening but this stereo typing is based on experiences from the past and as

always the good has to suffer because some dickheads fucked up .

This is not only in Thailand , you can find it everywhere in the world . It's not really a racial thing .

Where I would disagree is where you say that it is not a racial thing. If one or two caucasian guys did not buy drinks do you think that the gogo or bar concerned would ban all caucasians?

As per your comment, I think the good guys suffer due to the mistakes of one or two others.

Absolutely!! Although as I live here I guess I get to experience more than holiday makers. I think my experience that time does not happen often and it was during peak season.

We must agree that those indian men walking on beach road three together, holding hands :-), and negociating ST to 300b are not helping other indian man.

imo, caucasian people have also some bad behaviour, but unfortunatly, it seems that it bother less than the indians manners.

Some indian people have just different manners, and they are not right, not wrong. Just different from an other country. But it seems that it doesn't match the thais expectation.

When we have a bad experience with someone, the first thing we notice is his ethnic, and in second, his nationality. It is stupid but that's the way it's been going for centuries.

That said, it is not the first time those racism proplem are reported here. It may be usefull to start a topic about the "welcoming gogos and bars for indian people".

Also, an indian guy wrote a very good post about it and what to do but I can't find it anymore.

Edit : Not easy to say that in english. No offence in this post. If you think so, advice in Mp and I will correct/delete. thanks.

What works for me is that I get my Thai girl to talk to them. She tells them that I am not like "the others" - whatever that means.

Once in, buy a few girls drinks and tip generously. The bias usually disappears after that.

And the advantage is that they remember - so the next time you are passing by that way, they call you.

Totally agree with this, except for the racist thing IMO it's just pure economics and past experiences of the owner of the establishment with some nationalities. As long as you spend money they will like you everywhere!

A good girl gives you happiness and a bad girl gives you experience both are essential in life so enjoy every girlfriend!

I being an Indian national myself, have faced this often. On enquiring, my TG cited some hilarious/horrific incidents.

Unfortunately, Indians have managed to get themselves a reputation.

To break through this, I have to spend about 20% to 50% more. When entering a gogo bar, for instance, PAY a couple of hundred Bahts to the doorman/lady. Or get your TG to talk to them in Thai. On entering, immediately order a drink for your server when you order one for yourself, tip a couple of dancers generously, and most important, buy the mamasan a drink. Get one (or more) dancers to sit and have a few drinks with you. Tip everyone you have been in contact with, when you leave, even if each tip is as low as 50 bahts, it helps.

You'll do ok if you do this - I think they like money more than racial prejudice.

And they will remember you next time you walk by.

Strange... on my most recent trip (a couple of weeks ago) I took my TG and her aunt into Happy and we had no problems at all. Not that I'm doubting your story, of course, but perhaps there was something else going on... she looked like a female cop or something? There must have been some sort of extenuating circumstance like an issue recently with a fight between a girl someone brought into the bar and a girl who worked there? Perhaps the solution is to just bring two in? Of course, if you try to divine WHY the Thais act the way they do, you'll just go mad... :)

And here in lies the answer gentlemen.the thais are all about money and dont like too much hassle so they have their reasons i never forget my first time i was in pattaya filling out an arrival card at the airport and an indian at the airport just takes the pen off me (as im writing) and starts filling in his card all this with a smile on his face that looked like it belong to a monkey in a tree.so then i just took the pen back off him and that was that(ps) if he tried again i probably would of stuck the pen square in his eyeball which probably would of got me in trouble.to you people on here who are indian(especially those born in england, australia e.t.c e.t.c you are every bit my friend as a white man.but to anyone, white black or yellow. who hassles girls or are playing mind games all day and everyday for the most trivial things piss off you are not wanted.you monkeys are sub human and dont belong in pattaya.(ps monkeys are all colors not just one.but maybe some more than others.)im not trying to offend one person on this forum instead im trying to tell this forum if we see any of these people who fit this bill tell them to grow up or fuck off as our world doesnt need you. :GoldenSmile1::GoldenSmile1::GoldenSmile1::GoldenSmile1::GoldenSmile1:

You are trying to make excuses for them. They just did not want us in there on that particular night. It was no problem we just took our money elsewhere and they got black mark against there name in my book. Doesn't mean that I would not ge back (as I have) just less likely to on any given night.
