Roger's Italian has probably the best home made Italian food in Pattaya, but it is also in the worst possible location. It is set back behind a string of Second Road beer bars near the corner of Second and Klang. It is open from 6 AM until Midnight. Prices are high for Pattaya, but are similar to some of the other Italian restaurants in the city. The quality and flavor of the food however, are second to none.

You can park directly on Second near the entrance to Pattaya Memorial Hospital and walk towards the back of the beer bar complex.

post-10011-127393292365_thumb.jpg

There is also a back entrance next to Pattaya Memorial.

There is a small al fresco seating area for about eight or 10 people, and a more comfortable air conditioned area for about 16 or so.

post-10011-127393293978_thumb.jpg

The menu includes traditional Italian fare, Thai foods and a decent breakfast selection.

I have dined in once with a party of four, but order take away from there more often, and the quaility of the food never fails. If dining in, do not expect traditional restaurant style service. Instead, picture yourself being served dinner in a friends home. Each dish is made fresh to order, the Italian dishes by Roger himself, and the Thai dishes by his wife. That said, quick service isn't the order of the day, but the food is well worth the wait. There are also made from scratch specials such as cannelloni, lasagna and the like.

I haven't had a bad dish there yet. Among my favorites are the Thai Spaghetti Seafood, Ravioli with Ham and Cream Sauce and the giant slice of home made Lasagne I just had for dinner. :GoldenSmile1: One of the only things I'd like to see added to the menu is fresh pasta, as I am a big fan. Roger?

If you go with more than a couple people, prepare to wait, as the dishes come on one at a time. Be ready to enjoy a leisurely stroll through his cold meats plate (with some sent to him straight from Italy by his mother) onto your main dish and then maybe a home made Tiramisu.

The man and his wife.

Go, brave the location, be patient, and enjoy the best Italian in the city.

That's about $36.00 Per Person...Not trying to be too critical but its out of the way not easy to find--Service slow--Small portions---Not to fancy a place with New York Prices...I know of other Excellent Italian places for half the Money..There always Packed~~~

Food looks very nice. I normally eat at this small hole in the wall place just off Soi Xzyte. Nothing much in way of looks or comfortablility. But very nice food there.

I do love a good italian, will give this place a shot. Thanks for the heads up....

Take the wine out of the equation and its down to less than $16 per head. Your correct its no easy to find, but neither is it brain surgery to do so! Some peoples Slow service is to others contentment, when they are in the company of intelligent friends and the conversation flows between courses, so that time is of no matter. As for size of the portions, all but Chuck struggled to finish their meal but then Chuck is a trencherman of some repute.

:GoldenSmile1:

My lasses comment when I suggested going there for a second time was, yes its fun, your not rushed and its like visiting a friends house for dinner. Sounds good to me.

Yeah, I like those kinds of places as well. There's actually a couple of small French restaurants like that next to Tukcom that I've been meaning to try.

Yeah, I like those kinds of places as well. There's actually a couple of small French restaurants like that next to Tukcom that I've been meaning to try.

There is a french resturaunt near my studio. Terry Tibbs, Mavrick, and I ate a quick meal there in the afternoon once. I remembered seeing the owner stacking bricks himself and morting it all into shape for the outside grill... I had a Cabronara, it was very very good...

He has a Mixed grill he does and cooks it right there in front of you. Shows you the cuts of meat before he cooks them. There was another customer there having it. Looked absolutley fantastic. I wasn't out for a big meal that day, but I will be sure to give it a go. This place is well off the beaten path.

The name of it is Pipos. I will do a review of when I get back.

Again thanks for the review of Rogers... We could be in touch and take the girls, if you rough cunts don't mind a bit of alcoholic company....

Wow, looks delicious - indeed it's a little bit expensive but if the quality is good and the ingredients are original Italian then it should be worth the money. I favor such restaurants much more then other ones where i sit on plastic chairs, smell the traffic, have almost no atmosphear and only have to pay 99bath for my spaghetti napoli.

Roger's was the first place I ate at on my first trip to Pattaya in Nov 09.

Realy nice bloke, spent quite a while with us talking whilst his wife cooked our food.

It is very much like eating food at the owners house rather than a restaurant.

Excellant food nice air con room, woth the extra cost, ended eating there 4 times

during 2 week stay.

Took some girls there as well and they enjoyed the meal they had. :Crazy1:

I ate there recently and sat in the small air conditioned room. He was happy to turn on AC for us and put on some nice music. There are bars on the other side of his glass wall but was during the curfew period and quiet outside at the bars. One other couple came in while we were there and not busy at all. His Thai wife cooked the Thai dishes and he did the Italian menu. I asked him for a recommendation and we had three items from the menu and all were very nice. I will definitely go back next trip. Hard to find but worth it and you like to see a hardworking person make a success of their business. Was a very nice evening and the AC room is fitted out nicely and is romantic if you have a nice date.

Common sense is not very common.

Myself and comatose ate there a couple of days ago. As others have said, he is a very nice person who is very interested in pleasing his customers. He talked to us while we were eating, made sure the food was to our liking. after the meal he offered us a complimentary coffee with a shot of grapa.

The food is more expensive than other places, but I believe it is well worth it. I had the spaghetti bolangase, comatose had the lasagna.

He is setting up a website which should be live in around 2 weeks.

Stayed nearby last trip so often ended up eating thai from here at the beer bars outside for "breakfast".

Had the tomato, basil, mozzarella and balsamic more than once and wouldn't hesitate to say that it was the best I'd had. IIRC had some good carbonara one night as well.

Top guy, great food, very much recommended.
