Taking Thai girlfriends on Hols

Hi guys! I have taken my GF to Singapore quite a number of times as I do business there and Thais do not need a Visa if they travel to another ASEAN country. Have also been to Korea and Japan. I took her to Korea in the winter on purpose because of course she never saw snow or been cold. We had a great time. One of the things I did notice is that she got homesick fast for hot foods...smile. Korea was no problem but being in Japan was a bit harder to find hotter foods...Wasabi and sashimi was the best we could do there.

Anyway, she has travelled to Singapore on her own to meet me and I have always sent here the hotel itinerary and give her a letter to carry in case she was stopped by the immigration folks. In Singapore, because alot of Vietnamese, Chinese and Malay are working there as freelancers and Bar girls, the authorities really question the girl if she is travelling on her own. With the itineraries and letter, my GF never has a problem. We travelled together to Korea and Japan and no problem there either.

Safe travels Fella's!!

Big Wave thanks for the heads up on Korea, taking her to see the snow in the winter sounds like fun and singapore is a definite for me in the next couple of years. Thanks again for posting.

Visa-free entry to any other ASEAN state and to Hong Kong. Hong Kong and Singapore go down well with Thai ladies.

Agree, better to take them to a visa-free nearby country and avoid all the stress, paperwork & expense. I've taken Thai birds to Penang, Hanoi, Vientiane, S'Pore, KL.

Macau is a good spot for Thai people, they get 30 days on arrival and they are pretty laxed, Macau has a lot of shopping and other attractions besides gambling and a good number of really good Thai restaurants as Thais represent the 4th largest expat population there.

My recommendation if going (I live in Macau) is to say on the proper Macau side at some place like the MGM, Wynn or Starworld (SW being the best value for the money) they are right in the middle of it all. Venetian is grand and has massive shopping but the only thing near it is the City of Dreams which is quite boring. MGM has a nightclub in the casino which can be fun.

AirAsia to BKK to MFM usually is quite cheap to.

FrontLine, I haven't been to Macau for 30 years now, but went there several times in the late 1970s and it was a great place, I remember the fantastic and very cheap food there. Went to some Portugeuse restaurants and was having stuff like lamb & potato stews with crusty bread and red wine. So Thais get 30 days on arrival? That's good. What about farang, Aussie & UK passports? Do we also get a VOA or have to get one up front?

Spider my GF dealt with everything at the Turkish Embassy in Bangkok. As I said before seemed one of the easier places to get a visa for. Im thinking of Malaysia myself next year maybe taking in the grand prix. Have read that it is muslim country did you encounter any problems over there ?

I don't understand how you get visa for Turkey so easily?

I'm Turkish citizen living in Turkey and I called Turkish embassy in bangkok 1 day ago. Although I said I will sponsor my girlfriends all expenses, they insist on paper from her work. For people who doesn't work, they ask for money in bank account. Now it is very odd for me, you can get visa for your girlfriend but I can not. I'll give a fucking visit to Turkish embassy in my next trip to Thailand for sure!

I still had to send copy of passport, letter saying I would pay all holiday expenses, my employment details, details of where I would stay etc but trust me it was a lot easier than an application for England. My mate came to turkey with his Thai GF and got a Visa reasonaly easy but has been knocked back twice trying to get her to England. If you need any more info let me know.
