Taking Thai girlfriends on Hols

Big Casino

Recommended Posts

I normally have 1 vacation in Thailand with my GF and then later in the year take her on hols to a new country and each year I am looking for a new place to go. So I thought it would be interesting to see where you can take girls if you are not married to them without too much hassle. So please post if you have taken your lady anywhere plus if Visa was required and how much cost hassle etc. It would also be interesting to know where they can go without a Visa

Ill start.

Visas granted

England wanted a lot of paperwork but we passed first time and she was issued a six month holiday visa. Cost 4000baht

Istanbul (Turkey) Fair bit of paperwork but not as much as England and seemed reasonably easy to get visa Cost less than 4000 baht i think.

Laos. Showed her passport and paid 40 baht at friendship bridge.(where it cost me thirty quid and took over an hour to sort paperwork for my Visa)

By the way all thai girls want to go to England to see Buckingham Palace, Big ben and the london eye.

Visas denied

France. Tried to sort Visa out for a good friend of mine but denied after two attempts as he was not resident and if something happened to him during their stay how could she fund her time there.

well you got me thinking now Big,

I'm getting married in Loei in 5 weeks, I'd love to take my wife to UK for hols, I'm currently in UK Forces but working in middle east,

my wife is a bit younger than me, she's only 20..I can't apply for settlement visa until she is 21.......do you know if I will be able to get holiday visa for her before she's 21.........would like to think that it would cause a bit of a stink if a wife of a serving member of HM Forces was refused entry to UK on an age issue?

any ideas?

Pattaya Pattaya oh how I love you

Visa-free entry to any other ASEAN state and to Hong Kong. Hong Kong and Singapore go down well with Thai ladies.

Hey I was in Loei 4 weeks ago on the big lake there where you can hire the rafts. Order food jump and drink and then they bring to the raft and then a boat tows you out to the middle of the lake. Spent about 5 hours on the lake with as much food and drink as we could eat for seven of us for 2500 baht all in. If you have not tried it I would recomend it.

As for the hoiday Visa.

I sent my passport, a letter of invitation, a copy of my bank statement showing incomings and outgoings, a letter from my employer stating i was in full time employment ( whether you will get a letter from the Queen Im not sure) and I told them a hotel where we would be staying. All of this I scanned and sent via E Mail. She went to the Embassy in Bangkok beforehand to find out what was required and as I said no problem If I was you next time she is in Bangkok take a trip to the Embassy and they would let her know on the age thing. Beware just inside the Embassy there is an office occupied by guys trying to catch girls on the way in saying they will sort their Visas out for little money These people are scammers. It cost nothing for your lady to go to the Emabassy apart from her time. They will ask if she is in employment but if you are sponsoring her again this is not always a problem and they like to see contact via E Mail. photos of the two of you together or phone records.

Hi big the other half is coming over to england for 3 weeks at christmas what kind of paper work will i expect to fill in

I would advise she goes to the Embassy and asks what is required, However if it is far for her to travel she will need the following.

Copy of your passport with pages showing thai visa stamps.

Letter of invitation stating you want to bring her over for holiday to which place and where you would be staying.

Letter of your employment.

Copy of bank statement showing incoming and outgoing. (they dont ask for place of residence normally with this)

Her employment. Allthough I mentioned before if she is sponsored they may not require this.

Copies of E Mails to each other if that is how you contact each other or phone records.

Photos of the two of you together.

All of this can be scanned PDF and then send to her by E Mail. Again be wary of the scammers on the way in to the Embassy as it costs nothing to go there for advice.

Hope this helps

Netherlands two times on tourist visa but just got denied for #3 for some strange reason as paperwork was basically the same. Denied one time for Belgium. Belgium not worth the hassle and takes too long to find out.

I think it’s quite easy for a TG to get a Schengen visa if she can prove some employment in a decent company and a regular income.

Of course, you should have someone who lives in hte Schengen zone there and guarantees for her.

We provided all required documents including her bank statement and employment confirmation and received a 3 month visa from the Austrian embassy the next day.

This is quite convenient, because you can show your TGF 25 European countries with one visa. Many Thais would love to see Switzerland, Italy and Paris (not necessarily France).

Good advice on the scammers, but note that applications should be lodged not at the embassy itself in Wireless Road but at the VFS Centre, 2nd Floor, Regent House, 183 Rajdamri Road, Lumpini, Pathumwan Bangkok 10330. VFS has the embassy contract to sift applications to ensure that all necessary supporting paperwork is attached to the application - the decisions are still made by embassy staff.

Benny excuse my ignorance but can you explain what a Schengen visa is. As this would be ideal for taking girls to europe.

To all the people who took the time to post on this thanks for the input. Anyone else on the board had a hard time in certain countries as this could save us the 4000baht standard fee.

If you get a visa for a Schengen country (which DOES NOT include the UK) you can enter ANY country which has signed the Schengen agreement (not sure about Switzerland) which is pretty much all EU countries. Hence a lot of people apply for a tourist visa in specific countries who tend to give a visa to everyone with a hotel reservation. :GoldenSmile1:

I know it's pretty baby, but I didn't take it out for air.

Good post,

We went down to malaysia earlier this year, visa on arrival for both of us so no problems there. All being well the GF will get her 3rd VV to the UK later this year and also looking at applying for a schengen visa but it just seems to be too much of a problem finding any positive outcomes from anyone and at what embassey to apply. The french and german always seem to get a mention but unless married forget it i think just wasting your money unless anyone can tell me any different.

Interesting what you say about Turkey, did you apply in Bangkok or back in the UK, anyone have any ideas about Egypt as a possibility ?

Hi Big C

We went to langkawi via penang, the only issue we had was in panang where walking around we were getting some strange looks from the locals (male) mainly i think due to the Thai with farang or due to the GF short shorts as being a muslim country this is not the norm/ not seen but no big deal also easy to get around and the locals helpful and friendly.

We stayed in georgetown but when in the resort batu feringi no problems at all, food/beer more expensive than thai especially alcohol,, bars in penang behind closed doors ! i think lowest price for a beer was £4 in georgetown usually a lot more.

Langkawi very similar to maybe koh chang, very laid back and would go again & alcohol OK at £1 a bottle.

Thanks Spider had simlilar experience in Istanbul as my mates GF is well endowed up top plus wearing shorts, all the blokes just stared at her and I dont mean just casual look I mean STARED !. We also took the ferry over to tourist beach turkey and allthough they are not muslim they like to lech but I think thats at all the girls.

Only problem with Istanbul was very expenxsive £5 to £7 for half a litre glass of beer and all the taxi drivers try to rip you off.

Thanks again for heads up on penang.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi guys! I have taken my GF to Singapore quite a number of times as I do business there and Thais do not need a Visa if they travel to another ASEAN country. Have also been to Korea and Japan. I took her to Korea in the winter on purpose because of course she never saw snow or been cold. We had a great time. One of the things I did notice is that she got homesick fast for hot foods...smile. Korea was no problem but being in Japan was a bit harder to find hotter foods...Wasabi and sashimi was the best we could do there.

Anyway, she has travelled to Singapore on her own to meet me and I have always sent here the hotel itinerary and give her a letter to carry in case she was stopped by the immigration folks. In Singapore, because alot of Vietnamese, Chinese and Malay are working there as freelancers and Bar girls, the authorities really question the girl if she is travelling on her own. With the itineraries and letter, my GF never has a problem. We travelled together to Korea and Japan and no problem there either.

Safe travels Fella's!!
