American Bar and Grill - Soi Lengkee

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

This is a relatively new place in the middle of Soi Lengkee that I ate in a few times over Christmas and New Year.

As the name suggests, an American themed place - a bit of thought and money has gone into the layout, decor and ambience and staff are polite and very willing. Prices are reasonable enough for what you get IMHO (well by western standards anyway) for example the ribs were 390 with a side, pork chop and side 345 and ice tea pitcher was 95. Quality really good and very tasty. The place also does a range of steaks, burgers and mexican food and has some great desserts. Proper cocktails too which were in the 200 baht range but contained plenty of alcohol - I tried the Texas Iced Tea below and was pretty well on afterwards! Recommended

Had their gumbo a few days ago... It was great...  Would do again...  Only missed Tabasco ...  Couldn't try the ice teas (driving)... maybe next time...

Don’t sleep on their American/Brit style Chinese food.

Onion rings also the best in Asia I have found.

Top notch!

For Chow Mein, do they have the crunchy noodles? Unable to find them anywhere here, beit Villa, lazada, ex-pat er I mean Brit-shops, restaurants, etc.

A staple for "American" Chinese.

Wow that looks like good food and those grill marks indicate a proper grill. I wasn't happy with smoking joes but I think I'm gonna try this place soon.

Thanks for the post.

Thank you for this tip, will try in march

Those onion rings look great, going to try them with a beer or two.

The food at American Bar & Grill does look good!  yum.png

Some photos from the restaurant's Facebook page:

Whenever a restaurant makes the effort and goes to the expense of having its menu photos look good, the food usually tastes good as well.  Prices are reasonable, with plenty of items under 300 baht.

It seems American Bar & Grill is a great choice for steaks and American comfort food.

I haven't had Gumbo since I'm not working on the rigs anymore (10 years). I'm going to try it in this restaurant.

I could not resist lol

I ate the Chinese food here twice and thought it was really good :D

Visited twice during my recent trip, I’m no fajita expert but I thought it was exceptional especially being able to mix and match steak and prawns.

As you can see my companion certainly indulged.

Pretty sure I know who that might be. Living up to the city name in his PA handle I see :)

Finally got around to checking this place. One of the draws for me is the outside patio seating. Lengkee might not be the best for people watching. But still enjoyed it.

Opted for the smoked brisket burger. It was solid. But would be nice with some extra coleslaw on the side (I'm sure that could be arranged.)

450 incl the beer. I will certainly be back to check other menu items.

Good recommendation will give it a shot.

I seem to always order an extra cole slaw with my Kungs sandwiches as well😋

I just sit back and relax - I've earned it.

Didn't want to taint the brisket sam with slaw so ordered on the side ;o) Great burg but the avocado burg is next on my list.

I'm a little confused by the signage - is this NEXT to Smokin' Joes? Or did it replace Smokin' Joes? OR did it replace the steak place that was next to Smokin Joes?

Those fajitas look damn good....and an endorsement from @Jake.houston on the onion rings is all I need to put it on my "to do" list!

Countdown is on.....praying work doesn't fuck up ANOTHER trip.  I was scheduled to come home last night from my ("postponed") February trip.

It’s Smokin’ Joes. It’s also Let’s Wok, a western style Chinese place. It’s somewhat confusing.

They might be in Kahoots. In fact, I'd bet they are. But it's next door.

I need to find out how to get to Kahoots....apparently, lots of pretty Thai girls are there and some mamasans...

Actually you said it perfectly. Kahoots just means "working together", but I think only us old guys know that, 555

Smoking Joes & Steak ‘n Co we’re bought by a Korean fella, previous owner opened Hungry Panda next door now revamped to American Bar & Grill, same staff. 😉

You're here now where you should have been all along.
