Eye Surgery - IOL (non cataract), recommendations from recent surgery

I am searching for an eye surgeon with substantial experience with IOL surgery, specifically implanting an accommodating lens (not multifocal or mono).

I have read conflicting opinions about BPH (and a senior doctor) blinding 2 guys, recommendations for Rutnin Clinic in BKK but I've also read a number of negative reviews about the place, and a recommendation for a doctor at Jomtien hospital (no negative feedback) but the recommendation was from a gentlemen that had a mono lens implanted.

I'm hoping someone has recent experience (not hearsay) from the last 1 - 2 years for a surgeon that is super thorough (not even the slightest rushed in evaluation or surgery) with outcomes that matched what the patient was told.  I also would prefer a surgeon who uses current technology (laser, diagnostics, etc).

Thanks,
Shawn

Where did you finally go for your cataract surgery? I just had the surgery at BPH and received a bad result. It was 3 days ago and I can see very little out of my eye. Now I need to find a competent opthalmologist to fix the mess the first doctor created. Is there someone you can recommend?

The wife and I were very happy for 20 years, then we met.

I know people, who got their Lasik done in Goa, with apparently good success. Myself, I had a small splinter removed in an eye clinic in Kolkata. While I was there, I asked about artificial lenses and got the impression, it was a fairly routine procedure and they'd be using US made lenses. I haven't had anything done myself so far,but would probably prefer India versus Thailand.

Rutnin hospital in Bangkok is a specialist eye hospital. It comes very well recommended,  and apparently is used by the Thai royal family and other prominent people. I do know someone who went there for some contact lense problems - they told me it was fantastic and reasonable priced.

It’s central Bangkok just down the Asok road beside the canal.

Both my wife and I had misgivings about our cataract ops done in BPH. Both cases, not the actual operation but about being prescribed the wrong choice of lens. I have since had experiences at Rutnin and would recommend that over BPH for eye ops!
