Years ago I asked for check for skin cancer at Bumrungrad Bangkok with a dermatologist. Surprisingly they said since its uncommon with Thais they really were not up to speed on it.  The key is having an well experienced specialist. Do note that that extra "margin" they remove is standard practice. Its statistically likely that you will have other examples of this in the future.  Be diligent even when you have not had any for a year or more have regular whole body checkups and treat any you may have promptly. Unless its melanoma its easily treated and  not as scary as the C word diagnosis sounds.
